Re: pictures of shortbox stepsides

is that a 4.11 rear end that comes stock in the 68 with the inline 6? How difficult/expensive is it to change the gearing for a v8 ls motor?

Thanks for your input

Re: pictures of shortbox stepsides

you need to find someone that can set it up for you if you have not done one, clearances are very important if not set propley you will burn out the rear end

I def wouldnt do it myself....I would take it to a speciality shop for sure to upgrade the gearing or just swap in a different rear end. I read about people putting in s10 rear ends and camaro rear ends.

She's still at a friend's garage and working on it every chance we get. Added a new Accel dizzy, new plugs, (need wires) rebuilt the carb, added an electronic choke, adjusted valves, brought the compression up to 110lbs from 60. Trying to get the new fuel gauge operational, gotta swap a new heater core tomorrow, get a new fuel pump, get the gauge cluster (bezel) back in and steering wheel on, get the Custom/10 badges on before we toss the inner fender wells back in place, toss on a set of 68/69 camaro mirrors,..(yep, I took the others back and exchanged them as per your and dg's advice, melt the orange and black paint off the grille tomorrow with "Air Craft Remover"(?) so it will be ready for the bumper dg is sending, ..oh, and get a functional horn..lol.

Just chipping away at the stone and making a little, but steady progress.

I really wish we would hear something from him. I'm seriously getting a little worried now. He seems like a very cool guy that really deserves to have that truck delivered to him safely.

I'm hoping at this point that it did arrive, everything worked out fine with shipping, the truck is everything he hoped it would be and he's just too busy spending time with it to jump on here to drop an update.

sighh...really wish he would jump on here and drop an update though

I just got my Ridler 695 Wheels this past friday. They are 20x8.5 fronts with 245/50-20 Hankook Ventus AS and 20x10 rears with 275/45-20 Hankook Ventus AS.......fronts and rears are "0" offset.
I have Full Ridetech Air Ride system installed. Using Double Convoluted HD bags, 1/4" air line, Ridetech Ridepro 4 way solenoid block, 5 gallon 8 port tank, and 200psi High Volume compressor.

how much clearance do you have on the rear bed sides? is it tubbed? they keep telling me 20x 10 will not clear the rear fenders. thanks bob

Not tubbed. I have about 1 inch clearance on inside and actually need to roll the fender just a bit to clear enough to drop all the way. But since I am never going to drive with it dropped more than in the picture.....not in a hurry to do that.
Dont really use backspacing very much I go to my wheel guy and we measure for offset. They sent 0 offsets for both and turned out great!
Biggest issue is if you want a deeper dish to the rear, ya gotta go with a 10 inch or try to get a much thinner in the front.

So your back spacing in the rear is 5" and 4.25 in the front?

OK, thanks! I'm trying to visualize my truck with 20's. I'm wanting to upgrade my wheel/tire combo sometime soon and trying to figure out what size I want.
