Re: something different 66 long travel truck

That is so awesome !!! I love the way this truck sets, all the clearance of a 4X4, without all the weight and extra drivetrain hardware to maintain !!! There has got to be somebody who has some of these suspension parts for 1960-91 Chevy/GMC for sale, either new or used ???

Re: something different 66 long travel truck

Dino, do you have the 6" fabtech lift and also 4" lift spindles? where did you get the lift spindles from? and did the fabtech kit just completely bolt up to the frame without any mods?

thank you for any help

Re: something different 66 long travel truck

Hey dino I'm doing the same thing to a 70 chevy only just with the spindle lift. The 4" lift on a 70 actually ends up being a 5" because the 70 spindles are 1" lower that 88-98 chevy. I am also using the fiberglass fenders which were a pain to install(nothing is lining up and it's making me loose interest in the whole project). I was planning on running 35's but after seeing the 37's on yours maybee I'll go that route. Mine is a long bed as well. How does yours ride? And what was the bump steer issue you were talking about and did just making those heimed tie rods solve the problem?

Re: something different 66 long travel truck

Smashedfoot - What lifted spindles are you using for the lift?

do you have any pictures with the spindles installed?

I would imagine he would still have bumpsteer issues due to the angles of the tie rods.

Re: something different 66 long travel truck

the spindles are for an 88-98 chevy c1500. You use the 88-98 upper ball joints(direct bolt in to 70 upper a-arm), 88-98 lower balljoints(need to find 67-68 3/4 ton lower arm and neww balljoint will press in) 88-98 inner and outer tie rods(the 70 center link needs to be reemed out to fit the new tie rods). For the brakes I used 88-98 6-lug rotors to match the rear of my 70, and 88-98 calipers. I havn't delt with the brake lines yet, shouldn't be that difficult though. My tie rod angle is close to stock so hopefully I wont have any bumpsteer issues. With the fiberglass fenders I am using it cleers 35's with no clearance issues. I'll try to post pics(have never done it before maybe someone can walk me through it as I am not very computer savy).

Crazy to see you post on here. Saw your pics on nwbmwclub and I like it. Sadly didn't make it to the show, but heard a c10 was there. Glad to see the c10's represented. Yes I'm one of the bmw guys haha, don't lump me in w/ their antics though...

Heck yes. Would love to. I know whenever the dynoday for the bmw guys is I'm just gonna come out and watch and give James Haile a hard time for anything and everything like I always do. Sadly my c10 isn't on this side of the state, I wish it was. Its in seattle in a million pieces right now, I'm over at GU for college right now.

I haul butt on the freeway, don't get me wrong its know lambo but its fun
