Re: '63 GMC Project

The diffrence between the P51 and the P47 is that the 47 uses stock LCA's. The 51 you have to use SD's LCA's. I'm not sure if you can use any other companys arms.

They both do the same thing. If your on a budget go with the 47. But right now SD isn't taking anymore orders for either one. They are way behind and trying to catch back up before then start taking more orders. Give SD a call to make sure. I had the P51 and it's a great product.

If your wanting it now give PB a call.

Re: '63 GMC Project

I went with the P-51 because the way the lower arms mounted. I liked the bolt through the arm instead of the original style u-bolt mounts of the P-47. I went with the SD setup over the Porterbuilt kit because sd.com is only 1 state over and shipping was a lot cheaper (and they cut me a hell of a deal).

Re: '63 GMC Project

Small update, changed the radiator out for an aluminum unit I got off ebay and replaced the fan for a dual 13" setup I got from Summit Racing. Before the swap the motor would get up to about 210 after only 30 mins, after It only reached about 180 after an hour and 15 mins. Right now I only have 1 crappy cell phone pic of the rad and fans before I installed them but I will get some better shots of them installed later.

Re: '63 GMC Project

Nice! I updated to a dual fan on my 66.....I used the fan out of a 2005 Scion TC and a generic electric switch I bought from Advance. Installed it myself in about 30 minutes and it only cost me about $100 total for everything. The truck runs so much cooler now and it really freed up my 327 V8, I could actually feel the truck make more power without that heavy fan dragging on the motor.

Thanks. Right now one fan is wired to run with the truck on and one is wired to kick on when the temp reaches 185 and shut off at 175.

That's just a pic I snapped with my phone. I've seen the pics, plenty of "truck" in them. You can see them here; http://www.ecsmagazine.com/Shows/201...11/index9.html

I will post the hi-res copies when I get them.

Re: '63 GMC Project

I found a couple pics of my truck online from the Goodguys show in Columbus. It was a huge show, over 6,000 vehicles there. If you ever have a chance to go you should.

Re: '63 GMC Project

Thanks

My buddy took a couple of pics of me rolling home from a local show last night. They're a little blurry but that's to be expected with a cell phone in the dark at 70 mph.

Re: '63 GMC Project

Thanks guys.

Unfortunately the cruising season is winding down here. Soon I'll be packing her away for the winter. It's gonna suck to not drive it for about 5 months.

No, you're right. I just moved to Victoria in July for school and a girl. My 'burb is still down there, tucked away for the winter but my truck is with it's new owner in FLA.

That really sucks about the windshield man. I am going to be going through this same hassle probably this next summer. I guess I'll have to ask the shop right off the bat if they have experience with them and feel confident they can pull it off. Good luck with it!
