DBC = Drive By Cable
DBW = Drive By Wire (no throttle cable, just electronics open the throttle body)
LSx = Any iron or aluminum Gen 3 to current V8, could mean LS1, LS2, LS3, LQ4, LM5, etc...
LS9 = the new ZR1 Corvette supercharged engine

Let's see, what else is there???

I didn't get the pistons finished up because I wanted to run them through my parts washer cabinet that my uncle gave to me... but then I had to get the new pump hooked up which I did Wednesday night. Last night I took a night off from the garage and complained about my aches and pains from starting back to the gym after 3 months of not going... Tonight... it's piston cleanin time!

LS is a great language. I haven't used it much since I sold the Vette.

Re: Project Mr. Green Jeans (now 5.3 LS turbo build!)

Modified the ecu mount and installed it today. Mocking a few things up to see where they will end up. At first I was going to use an S 10 mount, but that didn't work out the way I wanted it to. So I ended up fixing the 02 Silverado ECU mount, modifying the bracket, drilling a couple of holes, and mounting it on the passenger side fender well. It came out looking pretty darn good. Then I decided to modify the mount a little bit to make the wires come out the other side to point towards the firewall. After all is said and done it looks pretty factory and is even level.

Re: Project Mr. Green Jeans (now 5.3 LS turbo build!)

I also picked up a dual fan set up from a nineties Windstar van. Someone on the board had that on their truck and it looked pretty good and I tried it and it matches up pretty well to the factory bbc radiator I'm using.

Love this build. The green/white long bed work-truck look is going to make people look again when they hear it whistle.

Well it's going to be so quiet compared to the old engine I wonder even how many people will give it a second glance. Even with the built 350, people had to hear it run before it would gather a crowd, now the cam in the 5.3 will sound fairly stock and the only time the whistle will be heard is on full throttle boost really, so it'll be even MORE sleeper than it was before LOL!

Engine looks good! I love that starter, it's just like the factory one of my 99 c2500HD . They work great!

Re: Project Mr. Green Jeans (now 5.3 LS turbo build!)

I got the oil pump, windage tray, pickup, and pan installed as well as the front and rear covers. Stored in a plastic bag for now until the heads are reconditioned. I found two broken exhaust manifold studs. One came out easily, but the other is broken below the mounting surface and will need drilled to extract it. Oh joy.

Re: Project Mr. Green Jeans (now 5.3 LS turbo build!)

Cylinder head repair last night. Broke the metric tap, so just drilled it out larger and tapped it at 3/8 16 thread and used a SBC header bolt. Done. Tonight is lapping the valves and seating everything up with the new LS9 springs.

Re: Project Mr. Green Jeans (now 5.3 LS turbo build!)

The transmission is here in town! I just have to wait for a call back from a delivery manager to set up the lift gate delivery to my house. Excited because I spent more on the transmission and delivery to my house than I did on buying the truck delivered to my house LOL!

Ordered today: Knock sensors and fuel line with parts.

Transmission will be delivered tomorrow.

Tonight, I worked on the heads. Lapped the valves in and reassembled with new seals and the LS6 springs.

Thank you!

Transmission was there last night so popped it open and got a few pictures. Sign on top says Fragile. Please give a shift LOL!

I also worked under the hood of the truck for the first time in a while. Swapped out the brake booster (had a small leak), and had to cut and chisel the old brackets off to bolt to the newer one. Luckily the holes already lined up, so it wasn't too bad at all. Cleaned up some wiring and figured out a few changes that I'll need to make for the new stuff to go in... And also, I FOUND MY MISSING FUEL GAUGE WIRE! Someone had cut it and tucked It inside the harness covering and taped it up. I hooked up the wires to a test source and Poof, working gas gauge!
