Re: Project 67 C-10

Saltwater primarily. My father built a bunch back in the day and they were all getting to the point of needing fixing so i built a bench and roller setup for doing them with a sewing machine motor for wrapping and made a dryer setup with a cpu heat sink. Been rebuilding some of my buddies rods too. Just finished up this one and added the 42 weave into it with all new guides and red/gold trim bands and new cork.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Well been messing with the wiring harness and trying to marry the 5.3 engine harness with the painless setup. Figured the better way was to get the LS in the truck and then I can figure out lengths of everything. So world d on dropping the engine in this afternoon. Will get ao.e more pics up just can't from the phone.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Well been working here and there on the 67 and making some headway. I think this may be the most body parts that have been assembled on it at one time since I've had it. Also swapped in the '71 5 lug rear end i got a few years back instead of the hacked together '88 that i welded on perches to. Also the painless harness is in it now.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Was looking around the other day and stumbled across Hezies 69 camaro bumper he sectioned and straightend and loved it. My father called me today while he was at the swap met and found one for cheap so now i have that to try and match. It's one of the things that makes me not like stepsides with the bumper hanging so far out but this tucks them up nice and close to the body.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Tonight I worked on my DBW pedal and was able to mount the 71-72 pad on the 03 silverado assembly. I thought I saw someone had done it but what it actually was the pad on the corvette pedal assembly is the same and you can just put on the trim ring from a 71. What I did was bore out the 71 pad to .250" and then grinded down the top of the pedal shaft till it would slide all the way on. Then dropped in a slot for the spring to sit below so the pedal will sit flush with the assembly arm. Think it came out not to bad.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Picked up some seats last weekend at the junkyard. 05 Mercury Mariner leather heated buckets and a flip down center console out of a 06 dodge ram with storage and an extra seat. All fits pretty well inside the cab and plenty of room.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Picked up a windstar fan but its not fitting too well. Moved the motor back to the rear 6 cylinder holes tonight and have the clearance now but think it's still too close to the big fan motor that sticks out of them. Went by the junkyard and measured a few different options and threw them into cad to see what fits best.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Awesome build going! I live in Taunton too and just got a 68 c10 with a longbed stepside a few months ago. Been going through it the past few weeks. Looking for some parts for it if you have spare parts youd wanna part with, need a grille and such. My stepfather has a 01 silverado with a 5.3 and no reverse and the 5.3 swap has crossed my mind but not sure if i want to deal with that lol

Re: Project 67 C-10

Started work on the gauge cluster install. Picked up a GMC envoy dash. I like it better than the silverado with its chrome bezels around the gauges and a round tach gauge that goes to 7k.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Really nice build! I like that Camaro bumper idea too. I've been thinking about doing something along those lines. I don't think I could go back to the big goofy stocker.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Have to work on figuring the fitment on the cluster with a new plexi face. i cut down the front of the bezel so its all the same level now. Also got the steering column mounted with the brackets.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Been running some data collection from the HVAC panel and the gauge cluster from the silverado. trying to figure out out some messages to send it back from the arduino board to get the ac request working but doesn't seem to be happy with the missing sensors. Gonna run some scans on buddy's. In good times though got my cts oil pan in the mail as well as my headers from speed enginering. Fit like a glove and are nicely built.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Bed is a little more together. Speedway engineering tranny crossmember installed. Also benefits to stripping a motor out of a truck yourself. everything is literally plug and play still for testing.

Re: Project 67 C-10

Got a new hatred for stainless covered fuel line. Only impaled once but got it good. Fuel lines are in except for the last fitting on the motor. Fuel pump installed woth custom fitting for fuel tank pressure sensor.
