Yeah and you did not tell me thank you until 2 months later after you looked in the bag and seen what I gave you. You had the nerve to call me talking about I did not know you gave me the handles also. Man you are some kind of friend, thats why you are my sometime buddy. What a butthead.lol

Tony's been talking about building a 383 so I told him to come get this engine block thats just sitting in the yard and guess what. He immediately said thank you. He did not wait 2 months.lol

Yeah I said it.

Better late then never I always say

OHHH Tony, tony this and tony that, if you like Tony so much why don't you marry him.

Hey don't tell Tony what I said, he's kool people. Any way I did thank you for the relays the day you gave them to me I just thought the 2 boxes with the handles were hardware what-nots for the relays. When I finally opened the boxes and saw the handles I was surprised so I called your sorry butt to say thank you. I'll be over next week to take some pictures of your truck, thank you in advance, bye.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

Some kool trucks I came across when I went to South Carolina recently. When I arived at the Charleston Airport I spotted this '55 Chevy 4sale. Then 3 days later I'm on the freeway in Charleston and I run across that same '55 Chevy being towed. Wonder if it's being delivered to it's new home. Wish she was coming back to my house LOL. I'll post updates on my cab work later.

Thanks 65Pickup for the compliment and encouragement. LOL the more I do the slower things seem to go, I'm envious too, I am getting a lil depressed seeing all these trucks driving around completed and some of these projects on here are out of this world. Unfortunately my wallet dictaes what I can and can't do,

I would like that a lot. Hope the wife and I get the chance to go back we had a great time. Something told me before I left to check on here to see if any of my contacts live in the areas I was going to be. I got tied up and forgot. Saw a few really nice rides at the Low Country Car Club show. I will post a few pics of the trucks I saw. You probably know the guys. One guy is a member on here, but I lost the card I wrote his name on. I'm hoping some one can ID the truck when I post the pics.

Hey I've got the same issue, figured once the motor and trans were purchased the rest would be cake!!!!! Its ridiculous how much all the good little stuff costs, the only fix is time and spreading out the expense, YAWN.

Thanks Kim. Your truck aint even done yet and it's off the chain. I saw a truck recently at the Long Beach Motorama attempting to do some of the work you are doing but it was no where nearly nice as yours anybody can throw parts at vehicle but you engineer everything you do, gr8 job.

Dang if that tow truck doesn't look like a repo truck.

If it is, the poor guy just lost his ride.

Car show hosted by the LOW COUNTRY TRAVELERS CAR CLUB. The rain put a damper on things didnt stick around long enough to see the rest of the cars make it to the show. The owner of this red '72 is a member on here I lost the info he gave me anybody know where he is on here? It was also in Classic Truck magazine.

Thanks for the compliment, believe it or not there are a couple of trucks on here I like way better then mine. Like Chevyrestoguy's '55 build that thing is off the chain Bad Azz.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...p?albumid=1183

The rear tires are fine but for me the biggest difference was the steering and handling of the truck with the Mustang II type suspension and that’s what I notice more then the type of rear tires I have. I didn’t like the ride with the straight axle and the wandering steering gear box. So driving it with the IFS made a world of difference. Now on the freeway I got a bit of a rear hop sensation from the tires out back when I had to slow down in a hurry. They are Mickey Thompson Sportsman 31X18.50-15 (bias –ply ,none radial) I have nothing in the bed, but the fuel cell and the wood so it’s lite out back. Those fatties are like ballons I guess. Now I don’t drive my truck in wet weather (no wiper blades either) and living here in SoCal don’t see much wet weather. I would not recommend those tires they have a poor tread design. I know a couple of people that got caught out in the rain in those tires and they said they spun out under minor evasive/ panic maneuvers situations. Also they don’t require a lot of air, the max. recommended PSI is 20psi and I have nothing in the bed so to get even wear across the wideth of the tread I keep the air pressure at about 12 to15psi. The M/ T Sportsman Pro has the same tread design (bias –ply) but has a drag tire compound for serious street/strip action. .My next tires will probably be Mickey Thompson Pro-Street Radial tires or the Hoosier Pro-Street Radial. When I’m done with the truck and take it to the track I’ll just use a friends pair of used slicks but they aren’t as wide and don’t need to be for my particular set up. But for the street those fat pro street tires just have such a kool look, with the right stance and I’m going to bring the truck down a little lower front and back. Here is all the info you need to help you decide what to go with.

Wow thanks for all that info, that is going to help me big time. I have a ton of work but i am looking forward to it. This truck is a driver and there is nothing i am going to do that is going to make it a show truck. I want it to be fun to drive and easy to drive, so i can take it any where and not worrie about it. I love all the show trucks out here, and all the hard work people have put into them but i am done with the show stuff. that is one of the reasons i love your truck, it looks cool just sitting there in that hot rod red paint and big fat tires with all the chrome. priceless!

thanks again for your help

Sorry to disappoint you Lowdownstar, but I can't stand that red oxide primer. I am going to paint it Audi Papaya Orange. That's why the truck is torn all apart right now coz I'm doing metal work and prepping it for paint. Now your ride can still look shinny and some flash and not be a show truck. I get very lazy about polishing stuff I don't wipe it down everytime I drive it some where. But even dirty it still looks like a vehicle that is being taken care of. Well I guess you live in a gr8 place where people respect each others property. But the few places I have dared to take my truck and walk away, I come back and find some one looking at it or walking around it looking at it. That's good attention but not all people that look want to leave it at that. I mean no disrespect but I think you my have a false sense of security when you say, ("so i can take it any where and not worry about it" ) Your truck looks good now just the way it sits. It's EYE CANDY right now. And your future plans are only going to make your truck more desirable. (BY THE WAY those wheels on your truck are so awesome I love those wheels) As Kabwe says if you like your ryde a lot you can be sure someone else likes it just as much and may want to do more then just admire it. Don't be discouraged you do your truck exactly how you want and enjoy it, but keep a watchful eye out for it. I disable my ignition/battery system even at a show or cruise nite. My 68 Pontiac Tempest wagon I drive a lot but I am always close by. My vehicles still might get stolen but I try to make it harder for the thief. They are gonna have to work for it. There are too many stories where custom/classics/ modified /hotrods/ muscle cars get stolen coz somebody got comfortable and let their guard down. Even when you are on top of your game they can still take your stuff. I have a friend when he works on his race car or his buddies race cars while in his garage which faces the street he keeps his roll away gate closed and his AK-47 on the work bench. It's the Wild Wild West out here. That's not to brag it's a fact of life. I have friends whose garage doors were snatched off with chains and a truck and their tools stolen, a friend of a friend story where the guys family got there '57 Chevy stolen at an intersection at gun point. At Los Angeles Trade Technical College when I was attending there back in the day, we parked our cars bumpers touching bumpers to make it harder to steal while in class. LOL, BUT THE FREAKIN THIEVES one late night still managed to get the roll-away tool chest in Diesel Shop when they took a unattended engine hoist and transmission sitting in the repair yard and used it as a battering ram, knocking a big hole in the wall, climbed in & opened the roll up doors and rolled the students tool chest out into a big truck. My neighbors son driving his '96 SS Impala was stopped by some thugs at gun point demanding he get out of the car, he refused saw the cops near by burned rubber got the cops attention the thugs got caught as he drove off.
THE PICTURES BELOW ARE EXAMPLES OF WHAT GOT STOLEN. THE 1ST PICTURES OF A 1934 Ford 3-Window coupe that was recovered. That is a picture of it I took at the 2009 18th California Hot Rod Reunion @ Famoso Raceway. The second car a ’32 Ford Roadster did not have a happy ending as far as I know. It was at the hotel parking lot next door to the Los Angeles County Fairplex (Pomona) Grand national Roadster Show.
Here are their stories:
1934 Ford 3-Window coupe
BREAKING: $250,000 stolen hot-rod has been found, arrest made
http://auto.ocregister.com/2011/01/0...st-made/49038/

’32 Ford Roadster
http://www.streetlegaltv.com/news/32...roadster-show/
Whatever happened to the male credo, “Never $%#@ with a man’s car?” It’s a horrible trend, but it would seem that hot rods are no longer safe in Southern California. The continuing rash of car thefts of really nice, really *****in’ hot rods has flared up again, but in the worst of spots, the 2011 Grand National Roadster Show. Stolen from the hotel owner Chick Koszis was staying at, a lead-footed, sticky-fingered thief ran off with this pristine ’32 roadster.
Also, you can follow the Stolen Hot Rod Alert page on Facebook.
