Re: My own build thread
I'm not sure what the hell happened but we fit the doors probably 5 times before I painted the jams and we tried to put the doors on last weekend and nothing lined up and it scratched the hell out of the door jams.... And to make it worse I bought the LMC door rubber and I can even close the doors because they are too thick. I ended up modifying the rubber but I'm not sure if its going to work. I may end up buying some from the steel rubber place. I've built a lot of cars and I've never had this much problem aligning panels as this truck.... Beyond frustrated... We will get it, it's just going 100x slower than I ever imagined. Good thing this is my truck and not someone paying me because I'd be broke...

Re: My own build thread
Sorry all, I haven't stopped working. We just ran into a bunch of problems because we fitted everything with the old cab mounts in "like dummies" and when I put the new mounts in nothing lined up... I've built a lot of cars and never had this much problems. I think my truck is cursed... Haha
But... I think we've finally got most of it figured out, the doors if a lot better with the steel rubber seals and the gaps all look acceptable. They sure didn't care how these things fit together back then... The inside is all painted, the door jams are finished as well as all the edges around all the panels. Now we just have to paint the inside of the hood and block everything once more and we can paint.... I hope.... I know that's probably the 100x I've said it. Lol Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: My own build thread
It's gold and its shiny!
We got the top finished, I just painted it so I have to come back tomorrow and see how it turned out but it looks real good for being dark and having crappy lighting. I will roll it out in the sun tomorrow. Thanks bazooka but this is my Dads shop, I have a 5 car garage but its connected to my house so I won't paint in it. The lift is real nice, wish I had one too! Glad you liked the table! Posted via Mobile Device |

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to get it out in the sun too. I will unmask it when I get off work tonight and take some more pictures. Hopefully it still looks as good as when I left it. I can't wait to finish the bed and the tail gate. I spent hours blocking the bed out, I will never shorten a long bed again.... It was fun to do and I learned a lot but holy crap was it a lot more work than I thought. The bad part is I used the really slow reducer because of the heat and the hood looked great for about 15-20 mins then the clear sagged in a bunch of spots. Nothing I can't sand out and buff but I've about had all the sanding I can take for a while.... Haha Posted via Mobile Device |
