Re: Dumptruck Dolly
Ordered new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, (with throw out bearing) from my local parts retailer, but they included the wrong throw out bearing...have to wait a bit.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
We have lift off today...I’ll be able to clean the frame and paint it, and then drop the drivetrain in all at once.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
I found a pair of old skool cool pipes that I think I’ll add to the exhaust.
Also ordered and received some Warn lockouts. |

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
Got back to the frame...found a common spot on both the 3/4 and 1 ton frames. Measurement was made from the 3/4 ton and transferred to Dolly’s frame. The 2 1/8 “ location is the front bolt hole for the V8 crossmember.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
After the V8 engine crossmember was in, I removed the 6cyl transmission mount and put in the V8 crossmember.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
I used the 2 post lift to handle the drop in procedure. Here’s my brother, Terry, on the left and friend, Randy, on the right tackling the motor mount bolt. It gave us a little trouble, but soon complied.
The next photo shows my son, Trevor, finishing up the header bolts. The measurements from the K20 onto the “K30” went well. My crossmembers we’re located like factory. Yes!! |

Re: Dumptruck Dolly
I am trying to do something everyday on the truck...My days are packed with family stuff, BBQing some onion burgers and chicken legs, plus I had to diagnose an overheating issue on my CRX. Turns out it is a coolant temperature switch that activates the fans. Order the part tomorrow, replace on Tuesday...Anyway, I scavenged the shock mounts from the Blue Beast, repaired the metal where I torched it too much, painted the mounts, plus the shocks and applied new hardware. Oh yeah, and I cleaned up the starter, painted it and secured it on the 350. It wasn’t glorious, but this is the stuff that has to happen and maybe isn’t covered too much in these swaps.
