Thanks 67cheby, I was worried if I was going to be able to remove it without damage. Was a little easier than I expected. Still nervous about the installation though.

Thanks Mike, your sooo right! went through several drill bits, but still cheaper than a new panel.

Below is the roof panel prepped on the under side to help prevent any future rusting. Also made some progress on removing the rusted roof material. She was able to catch me in a few shots

Nice work on the roof skin.

I have the same job to do on my stepside plus the inner skin as well. Not looking forward to it.

Thanks! I will be glad when the body work is done, I'm certainly more comfortable turning wrenches than welding.

Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB

Was able to get the roof panel and the roof ready for installing the panel. I'm currently waiting on the big brown truck of goodies so I'm working in other areas. Was able to start installing the Autometer gauges into the stock bezel.

Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB

Was able to get the roof completed. Completed the weld in of a patch panel on the inner roof, treated & painted the inner roof area, applied the Dynamat in place of the original sound dampening mat and installed the roof panel with the 3M panel adhesive.

Great job on the roof repair, and keep the pictures coming. So how much did the 3m panel adhesive cost to do the roof?

Thanks! I'll be sure to keep the pics coming as I make progress. The adhesive was $38.00 for a tube. Only used about 2/3 of the tube. The gun used for the application was about $50.00. I had the gun as I had used a tube of the adhesive for installing both door skins. I have been very pleased with the product/process.

Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB

It has been a while since i've updated my thread. There has been a little work happening on the truck in the last 18 months. I was able to complete the panel replacements required on all four corners of the cab, what a PITA!! I had to enlist the help or our local body shop to finish the outer rockers and align the doors.

Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB

A few pics the doors installed and checking the fitment of the seats. I'm trying to determine the best way to mount up the seats I bought out of an 06' Chevy. I plan on installing new nut plates under the floor to fasten the mounts to so in the event of an accident, it doesn't pull through the floor. The seats will be recovered in another fabric as well.

Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB

Few pics with the cab, bed, and LT-1/T-56 mounted to check the fitment and make hole for the shifter. As you can see the rear of the floor needed a small amount of trimming to clear the rear shifter box. Also the rear of the trans tunnel requires a little modification. Pictures of the welded up clearance mod on the back of the trans tunnel to follow.

Really good progress on the cab repairs. I know how time consuming that is. PITA is right too.
