while i had it in the air i took some pictures of the torque bar from the 3rd gen camaro i installed.
the rear end is on stock spring, flipped on top and minus the overload springs. while i had minimal wheel hop, when i got on the gas the rear end would tilt up and the drive shaft would rub on the rear x-member. i looked at making it a 4 link, lot of work on a together truck. you can see in this pic that the rearend housing has 2 bolt bosses built in for the torque bar. i got a stock 3rd gen torque bar and modified it originally on the 3rd gen there was a rubber mount that the front of the bar slid into and worked back and forth as the suspension worked up and down i cut the mount off and welded on a trailer shackle the torque bar works great, truk is a tire smoking monster >

Out of curiosity where did you put the heater valve? I don't see it underhood. I have the same AC unit and I'm trying to figure this part out. Thanks.

Thanks for the pic. I bet getting all the lines in will be a miracle. It's a tight fit as it is with just the unit. The one thing I did way different was I installed my bulkhead behind the kick panel exiting under the passenger fender. I thought trying to get behind the unit and under the battery tray would suck big time.

a few more pics to get you going, i used the compacII unit with the surefit condenser
i did the whole installation prior to shaving the dash so i could weld in brackets as i did not want any thru bolts in the firewall you can see how low and big the unit is. tab welded to bottom of dash and tab welded under cowl (behind defrost hose) mount for right side, bent angle welded to hood support and hose routing upper routing and location careful placement of the mounting brackets allows for any future service of the unit i had to pull the evaporator down last yr, tight but manageable i tried to hide as much of the va unit as i could with this lower dash facsia

Thanks for the pics. That might be useful during my install (when I get hoses). I'm waiting on the windshield and shift linkage to come in the mail first.
I just noticed your rear end. Got a 92 Firebird in the driveway (1 owner 5 speed car) that would love to have it. I've got the 7.625" 10 bolt rear but added a posi and 3.42 gears. That 9 bolt rear is kind of rare and supposedly much stronger. Did you grab that on purpose or did you even know there was a difference?

shh. don't tell the 3rd gen guys what i did...
the rear end was strictly by luck, it still has the 3.27 ratio tag on it. i didn't find out what i had until this spring when i was researching the rearend. i just wanted a 60'' wide, disc brake, posi, with low ratio. bought it for $200 lots of 3.08, 3.23 and 3.42 gear sets made for production cars in 86 according to thirdgen.org there were only 74 - 3.27 gear sets made in 86 as test units. junkyards around motown are funny, i've seen brand new cars in test cloaking come in to be crushed. a factory rep might be with the vehicle to witness the gas tank removal and car crushing. we see cars on the road every day in test cloaking, to where the car is covered in heavy masking like furniture movers blankets. or like you might see in car and driver magazine as spy photos... like this how i ended up with this particular rearend is beyond me, tell me more about it

You have a Great truck.... and it has inspired me... I've finally had time do work on my '59 some.... Yesterday, I got some seats and a steering column from the junk yard... i posted a note in your build thread
the s10 and astro column and wheel look like the same column. mine was actually a gmc safari and had gmc logo on the horn i found a nos chevrolet horn button for mine, but i run the stock safari steering wheel all the after market wiring harnesses follow gm color codes go to painless performance and view one of their manuals follow that link and go to page 9, it will give you all the gm color codes for wires to the turn signals and ignition switch not knocking your build but you need a little structure to hold your steering column in there weld something in there that ties into the original steering column mount allthread rod and a bunch of nuts and washers won't cut it going down the road

My brother in law is trying to get me to go on the last leg since it runs close to here. Problem is that his vette is driving and my truck is not. I lack getting the windshield in, a shifter linkage, and some tires. Wouldn't really be done, but at least driveable. Need more time and money...

It drives all right. In the last two weeks my father in law and brother in law took their vettes to two shows. The 62 got a trophy at one and the 64 got a trophy at the other. 62 is LS1 6 spd w/ C4 suspension, 64 is LS7 6 spd full aftermarket frame and autocross suspension. Both were built in the same garage. No shop built cars in my family.

these are for you dan in pasedena...
i made a 1/4'' plate to weld on my frame with nuts welded on the back to bolt this bracket to. before you locate the holes in the plate make the bracket up and get everything looking good, tack the plate to the frame, located the bracket and tack it to the plate. then remove the plate from the frame and drill out the holes. you can see the bracket here on the frame. i did all of this before removing the cab so i could line up the pedal to the hole. the hydroboost will come with a plate to mount the hb to the mustang firewall. i used this plate as a starting point for my bracket a shoulder bolt fit the hb and the stock swing arm, i had this in stock, i bought a shorter one for final assembly (see the top pic) i also used the stock pivot pin, the bolt and washer lock the pin. look at the angle of the stock mc with the pedal attached and use the same angle to fabricate the hb bracket. when starting out fabricating the bracket, it was pretty basic. i'd hold something up and tack it. once i got the basic bracket, i pulled it down, welded it solid and added some bracing. i did this much with out even crawling under truk, this was the rough bracket from the bench fabrication had i had this awesome tutorial the bracket would have been 10 time better looking so i expect your bracket to be a thing of beauty
