Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

Yea, I like the "first model year" body style too.

This next year it's getting a repaint using all original colors and the stripe will be hand painted, then clear coated, so no bump. I might "jazz up" the front of the Champagne color, by curving it downward at the front wheel well.

I have a friend who creates NHRA Funny Car paint designs, and assist in the shape.

Photos show an earlier view, and a new photo with 360,000 miles of Sunshine beating on the paint.

Yea... I'm putting on REAL paint next time..... I used a razor blade & removed the clear, since it was lifting....

(How do you like the ladder rack I fabricated?) You barely notice I have ladder racks. I can strap anything on them. It's extruded aluminum that curves with the top.Only 1 1/2" above the shell surface. 3/8" S.S. bolts through the double laminated w/ honeycomb roof. I can put a 40' extension ladder on it ..no prob.

My wheels..... I powdercoated them when I got them, they were polished aluminum, but I didn't want the chrome look. The wheels were the ones that look like truck wheels.

I will buy "fancy-shmancy" wheels when I get a low-rider '71 Caprice.

It's the same way in Ohio. My sister lives there, and I've seen trucks newer than mine that are rusted solid.

If you do get Coys, I'd like to see how they look on your truck. I got a blue step side and want to see how they look on a blue truck.

GREAT looking truck..... I like how simple a good look can be.

The color.... it reminds me of my old '70 GTO color.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Part II

Put 2 inch blocks in the back end.
Should have put new u-bolts in BEFORE I ever put a lift in the back; the bolts rusted in half, I put an impact gun on the first nut, and it rusted in half.

Total tire clearance: 7.5 inches on the back from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender. Front: 5 inches on the passenger side and 4.5 on the driver side. When the front end was dropped, they did it wrong, so one side is lower by half an inch.

I might take pics of the u-bolts and how bad they were rusted.

All four u-bolts looked like this.

Dub X....

I call it a good day......... You found it & repaired it before it failed!

"No news to report"...... Just a repair.

I can imagine..... You take a slide to the left, the U bolts fail & your axle falls half off. Your back end slips down the 6' embankment. The cab lays on the muddy water... passenger side. Your buddy raises the beer can up by the rear view mirror to keep the brown water from getting into the Miller Lite.

But, I prefer the "No news".....

Yeah lol. From, the looks of things, it's been like that for years, so i needed new u-bolts regardless of the fact that I was lifting the rear end.
