Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I started rebuilding the carb yesterday and just ordered my Jeep coil springs today. Time to drop it and get it on the road. I would say "roadworthy" but that is a llloooonnnnggg stretch. But driveable is a start...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I cut in a CPP cnotch...still need to drill holes. I somehow mananged to break a brand new titanium Bosch 1/2" drill bit. And now Im arguing about the strength of the notch and getting attacked by Shane for some reason?

I ordered a blower hole cover to go along with my heater delete. Also got a gauge panel from an old conversion van... I have an idea I'm working on.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I did some cleanup work on the camper to/cap, collected the new timber from the wood yard for it (bottom rails that it sits on are rotten) and then got dragged into gardening. That said I've been cleaning up under my new tarp garage that the truck will live in as soon as the cap is repaired, cleaned up the weeds between the 200 odd year old cobbles in there so it should be a bit dryer and cleaner.
This is the before picture! This week the wheels are going off to have the tyres refitted with new valves as three out of the four go down over the space of a couple of weeks, then hopefully I'll find some time to drain the five year old gas out of the tank and replace it with fresh. Then I'm ordering a new battery and starter.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well, not all today, but over the past week or so with a little (well a lot) of help.
Installed EPWI 1.6/1.5 roller rockers. Installed Edelbrock aluminum valve covers. Ran, cut, constructed boots, and installed MSD Street zero resistance plug wires. New belts and hoses all around. New SFI 29.1 fly wheel. Installed N&N Air Filter. Tomorrow - installing 700R4, level 3 transmission. installing switch on factory A/C so compressor does not run all the time. coming up next few weekends: New cab mounts. Front suspension rebuild, ball joints, bushings, tie rods, 1" spacer between carb and intake manifold run new fuel line from fuel pump to carb Last edited by 72TXSuperCheyenne; 05-14-2010 at 01:53 PM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I put a "new" to me glove box in my 67, it was one of two that came with the 70 GMC 'burb we just hauled home. Started taking out the 4 speed in the burb to put into my 67. No I didn't take pics LOL.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I installed a ECE hidden hitch setup on my 71. My 8 year old son was the perfect assistant to get the job done. It took a few hours to get the holes drilled but it turned out really cool.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
got all the parts i ordered from autozone to do the rear brakes on my longhorn c20.
Realized the whell cylinders were wrong, so went back to autozone and they started passing the buck blaming everbody and their grandma for the wrong parts. Settled for a refund on the wheel cylinders from autozone, went to napa and picked up the "right" ones. set down to do the brakes and realized autozone gave me the wrong size brake shoes. They gave me the 12' instead of the 11 2 and 3/4 i ordered. After driving there and haggling for a refund, i went to napa and got the "right" ones. You think i would now better than to deal with autozone, but i thought i'd save a few "bucks" instead ended up wasting 4 complete days! should have went to napa in the first place. now daylight is gone and have to wait for tomorrow to start. All this after i waited 4 days for autozone to "order" the parts from their warehouse. then to realize they were wrong parts, wheel cylinders and brake shoes. (they did get the brake hardware right though) never again with autozone. Last edited by beebster; 05-15-2010 at 02:46 AM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well my Wife did about 99% of this to my Truck today, but I figure since we've been Married 20 years, it would be permissible for this Thread.
I've installed the Leather Seats in my Truck, but with the Gas Tank still there, when the Console is folded down you STILL see it. My Wife says to me, "Hey you need a Pillow between your Seats to hide the Gas Tank". Then it hits me, that I've got (2) 12" Embroidered Rat Fink patches, I bought from Ed Roth's Wife about 6 years ago. They've been tucked away, so I asked my Wife if she could sew the Patch on to a Pillow? Viola' there you have it, and since the "Theme" of my Truck is going to be the Rat Fink, (license plate "RATIKLE"), it was a no brainer!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Started mock up on my electric fan setup yesterday and removed all the bed to frame bolts. Got a couple buddies down today and acheived bed separation. Was gonna just install a fuel cell but I'm thinkin this is as good of time as any to clean and paint the frame and do some exhaust work. You all know how that snowballs!

Built 3 inch tailpipes that come out behind the rear tires on a angle, changed the oil and cleaned up some mess....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I sure wish I had got some stuff done on my trucks, but no.
I moved both trucks, '67 and '71 steppers, to carports so I can get the garage ready to start working on the back of the '67 so I can put the bed on it. Having a small garage and working on two trucks seem to slow progress. Danny
