Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Layedout, did you have to cut the corvette coil cover to fit behind the alternator? I just picked up an alternator and it interferes with the plastic cover. I don't want to cut it if there is another way. Thanks!!

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Layedout- GREAT build and super informative. Thanks for being so willing to answer questions!

A couple for you when you have time:
I am assuming you used a long bed frame- why did you have to move the front leaf spring mount forward?
Did you go with the cantilever setup from low rider depot? Which bags? Anything else you would recommend with that kit? What bags did you use in the front? Did you burn it in, or just bolt it?
What air management system did you end up with?

What fuel pump did you end up using to make the LS motor have enough pressure?

The leaf springs were moved backwards to keep them from dragging the ground.

I got the LRD 6 link with airlift 2700 bags

the front you want as big a bag as you can fit, i got 2600 in the back.

you have to cut the pocket in the front out and bolt in a cup. then bolt bag to the cup.

I got a fuel pump for a syclone that goes into the tank. Then i have a corvette fuel filter for a return.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Awesome- thanks!
Did you have to do anything to the 6 link to adjust the wheelbase to get the wheels centered in the wells? How adjustable is the kit? Looks like you got it pretty well installed before getting the fenders placed- were you able to fine tune once installed?

Are you using drop spindles or was your body drop enough?

Are you going to put in a bed? Curious how much bed space you have left with the notch.

Did you go with a full management system or just manual adjustment and gauges?

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

I set the suspension first because i knew the wheelbase of the 1950 was 115 roughly so i matched that with the s10 base, then i mounted the body to center the tires in the wheel well. The kit i got is pretty adjusatble as far as pinion angle, but the location is pretty much standard on the kit.

I do have drop spindles, not sure where it would sit without them. I would imagine having to notch the frame for tierods if i didnt have the spindles.

I started on a wood bed, but since i have thos fenders in there, the wood work was proving too much for my skill set. Gonna have to get some help there.

I basically built my own airride kit. I got the size tank i wanted, got an air zenith compressor. Then got accuair valve block. I used AVS digital gauges, and a AVS switch box. Just got the valve block to eliminate as many leak points as possible. Plus it was so easy.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Thanks!

2" drop spindles?

Are you happy with having manual adjustment of your bags? I have heard that some guys have trouble keeping their tires wearing right since ride height always changes a little bit. Ever thought about having a management system with height sensors etc?

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

They are 2 '' drop spindles.

I have had air ride on many vehicles and just come to expect premature tire wear. I got it aligned at a certain psi and try to get as close to that as i can. Seems to work well.

Love that color with the slight patina. Did you pick up the body in that good condition, or did you body work it and do the paint/patina yourself?

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

If you dont mind me asking, how much did you have to give for the truck? I found a 49 in about as good condition in the same exact color, but they want way more than I want to spend just for the body.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Thats nice, i paid more than i wanted to for mine. But it ran and the body was perfect. Only minor rust and the only floor rust was a flat piece that i welded in in like 10 mins. I would say that truck is worth 4500 bux around here, they are going up steadily.

Tried replacing everything else. since it weighs so little and I got all disk brakes, i figured it would be fine.
