Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

I dont remember seeing in your build here what you did for your hood turn signals. How did you get them black/subdued like that? It really makes for a clean look at a distance I noticed!

If it is on a page in here, do you remember which one?

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

I loved everything until I saw the 700R4. Other than that very nice truck!

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

What!! How can you not like a built 700r4. Strong 1st shift kit w a hard 2nd and quiet OD on the hwy.
For the signals I used smoked tinting spray, and painted the lens trims the body color.
Thanks everyone!

I hate automatic transmissions with a fiery passion. I once lost the brakes in a Chevy K20 doing 50mph at the top of a mile-long hill. The only reason I am still alive is I was able to downshift it and slow the truck down and finally stop it. Sticks are stronger. That and rowing your own gears is so much more fun lol

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

I mean no offense by any of this, but if you were planning on completely ripping it apart anyway why would you start with a perfectly good runner? And why would you shorten the bed? You're gonna wish you had it when you go to Home Depot!

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

It's all good man. My truck had a running motor but the manual was shot. All my cars are manual so I wanted to have an auto to cruise in, plus rowing gears in a 30" shifter sucks!! And I wanna put my arm around my girl sitting next to me. Trust me i love manuals but it didn't fit the bill on this build. I was also tired of searching for a bbw swb in va under 5k. When I saw this for 500 I said F it it's mine!

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

I got a stick in my daily 6 banger S-10 and I love it but for slow cruising through shows and the slow crawl and stops when filing into a big show like Good Guys an auto is better for me. Plus I don't have any cup holders so I need the extra hand It does suck not being able to push in a clutch and flex my 383 at stoplights though

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

Hood prop. Time to wrench

Got the radiator bled and found a hose that works so no flex-coil crap.

I got wood.

I take pictures of my wood

All is wired but the speedo. That will be this weekend

I also adjusted the gimer drive for more whine, it sounds sick! I really need to get an exhaust soon because the neighbors can't like this too much! Supposedly the driveshaft will be done this week. I need to let the press treated wood dry out before I stain it. I am thinking a honey color will look best.

thinking of this color

That's gonna like killer!

Be careful posting pics of your wood on the internet, you may end up on "To Catch A Predator"

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

Finished coping the edges, except behind the passenger wheel well, the wifey was not happy my Sunday was with the other lady so I had to call the day short. It seems that I can let it dry out for just a week then stain and seal it. I look forward to finishing it next weekend w new stain and Marine grade UV protected epoxy sealer. I have been wire tucking some of the few wires there are. My biggest issue now is what to do w the floor. I feel I want black carpet but I dont know if thats too creature comfort, but the vinyl floor is more costly than carpet!

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

When you get the marine coating for your bed wood, please post a pic of it?
When I do my bed I want it to be as nice and weather resistant as possible too.
Otherwise your truck is looking sweet as hell man!

I like the pic of you using the bottle opener... for me that would be a DUI just waiting to happen LOL.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

I will definitely post pics! I never ever drink and drive. I lost a friend at 16 years old to another drunk driver. Its for fun, hanging out in the driveway, and enjoying one at a car show! Tanks for the compliments!

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

Couple small things.
Finished wiring speedo. Its brighter than the rest so I I am going to play w some resistors to darken it up a bit. Any idea on ohms to start with?? Removed the old purple tint. It was bugging me for a long time but it gave me a nice overspray protection. It peeled off with 1 swipe. It is so much nicer to have it off. Trucks of this age look better tint less, plus you can see the sweet interior better from outside.

Dome light is installed! I love the feel of the old bulb hue.

Overall its hard to capture on the iphone camera, but in person, at night it feels so damn cool having the oldschool headlights shining ahead 12" off the ground, and these old school gauges glow bounching off the all metal satin interior. It just feels right.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

Love the pic of it layd out from the door step. I have only owned black cars and can't decide on paint for my 66. That pic makes it hard to do anything but flat black. Good job..
