Re: 51 Chev on a S10 frame, named Dale
Thanks Guys,
the 'custom' touches are what makes this project so much fun, as there is no Right or Wrong. Do whatever you like is all that matters. Father&Son, - thanks for that comment, as that is exactly what I was hoping to accomplish, as I don't think those neon orange needles look right in an old truck.

a few bugs to work out, but all in all, very comfortable, and easy to drive.

OK, that's really, really nice. What a difference it makes to see it with pics that were taken outside. You even got that new roll pan to blend in and look like it's been there for a long time. All of this, just in time for another season of cancelled shows & cruise nights!!!!

Re: 51 Chev on a S10 frame, named Dale
Thanks Guys, as you know, these projects are never "done", but driving it sure feels good and I hope to log a lot of miles on it this summer.
Here is what I did for the radio. I welded over the steel dash where the stock radio goes, and made a steel box to place under the dash, and padded it with grey vinyl. However, I did not want to see a modern radio, so I took the face off an old Pontiac radio I had, added a hinge on the bottom, and a turn fastener on the top..... and presto. I have not been listening much to it as I am enjoying the sound of the motor, but it is there when I want it. Thanks again for the guidance and support,

Re: 51 Chev on a S10 frame, named Dale
These pics are for 'Fargolet', as we were discussing back up lights.
Since I had a reverse wire, and a 3rd Brake light wire in the rear wiring harness, I purchased 1 clear LED for a reverse light, and 2 red LED lights for the 3rd brake lights in the bed rolls. I put the brake lights about 2 inches inside the bedroll so they are hard to see when not lit up.

HA! Both were very funny. I hate being protected from myself. Glad you got the truck out for some fun before it was deemed dangerous to your health to stand around.

That tiny LED sure tosses out a lot of light, and it's far more subtle than the pair of lights I tossed into mine!

Re: 51 Chev on a S10 frame, named Dale
Had a problem with the truck, at 40 mph, under load, the engine would sputter, cough, and chug. This only happened under load, if I depress the clutch and rev it, no problems.
Hmmmmm, is this a fuel problem? or an electrical problem? So, added some 93 octane fuel, no change, then I replaced the fuel filter, no change. Maybe it is an electrical problem?? I used a brand new distributor, so it should not be that?? but what else?? maybe the coil (HEI) was breaking down? So, I had an old distributor, and changed caps, still no change. OK, maybe it is the module in the distributor??? so I went back to my used distributor, removed the module, (added some dielectric grease to the bottom) put it in the truck and ...... FIXED ! no more problems, cruising along past 40 mph without a hiccup. I purchased a new complete distributor the the very reason of not having these problems, but they still occur. All is well, and noticed I have just put 500 miles on it so far this summer. Hope you are all enjoying your trucks this summer.

Re: 51 Chev on a S10 frame, named Dale
KISS , Keep It Simple Stupid... that is my motto, and this is a perfect example why I like Carburetors and Distributors.
If this was happening with a computer controlled motor, I would be lost.
