Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
Wow! Nice work! I've been away from the board awhile and I had not seen this. I'm just starting on a '69 SS myself. Did you go back with a big block heater box and heater core? It sure moves those heater hoses away from the engine a lot. Its also cool to see that you have also have a '67 Firebird. I have a 400/ 4speed body. It doesn;t have the rearend, but all the sheetmetal is there, and it's also a pretty solid car. The '69 Camaro and '67 Firebird are my 2 all-time favorite muscle cars followed closely by the '70 GTO and '70 Chevelle SS. I hope over time I can restore both of mine, but I am going to focus on my Camaro right now because it MUCH closer.

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
That looks outstanding. Are you doing the paint and complete turn key rebuild on this car also, or just the body work? Is that project Swiss Cheese in the back ground? You should post some pics on that thread of "whats left" after sand blasting.

Thanks guys, and yes that is "SWISS CHEESE" in the foreground. there will be some progress on it right away actually, while this is out for prime and paint. And yes, I am doing the complete turn-key of this car.

i am way impressed. You just don't see many people take that kind of time to prep for paint. I always get in a hurry and get upset later.

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
Well guys, I am a little disappointed tonite, I got the front lower valance on and the fender bottoms, IT FITS LIKE CRAP!!!! Here I was hoping that it would fit good and I would be done, NOPE, not in my lifetime, oh well. I have to wait until the new grille shows up next week for it, that way I can fit it to it, so until then I will find all of my misc pieces and start blasting them and get the front headlight mounts all bolted in to make sure that all fits, go figure, aftermarket, I should have know better, I deal with it all the time, oh well, just some more experience for me, oh and I will start the mud work on the rest real soo too!!!!! Yah. It is gettin there. Later.

That looks terrible. Why bother trying to fix it. I'm getting my bonus next month, I'll take a road trip and come take the whole mess off your hands. Then you'll have room to work on swiss cheese...

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
Hey James, how can you leave the car "bare" for such a long period of time? If I did that here in SC, I'd have surface rust in just a couple days (high humidity.)
I can't believe the pathetically terrible fit of the aftermarket front end parts. The "new" fenders on my 67 only required tweaking to look nice. The doors fit well too, after messing with the window frames, but they're way too thin for my liking. It will all be back to OEM someday...

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
So....... I have been putting this off for a while now, I bought a sandblast cabinet for 1/3rd the price as it was missing a few parts, this morning I went out and worked at getting it going. I rednecked the top of it and cut a hole in it for a light, helps out tremendously, hooked everything elso up and presto, one glass beading cabinet.... While doing this I kept looking at the front of the Camaro, I said to heck with it, I went over and started beating the crap out of it with a 2x4 and a BFH!!!! I got it darn close to fitment, once I was happy with it smiled, I knew that once the new grill would shoe up, the rest would be easy, All good BABY!!!!!!!!
