Re: What parts aren't out there?

speaking of injection molding, what if there were some repro blazer/jimmy interior rear trim panels made out of plastic? the ones with the original scroll work that are so expensive to replace, yet they are still vinyl (susceptable to moisture?) it would actually make sense to have the front door panels made of plastic with scroll work (which they are, from the factory) but also to have some good-looking ones to match for the back out of matching plastic. for burbs, too! maybe even modernize them a little, retaining scroll and grain pattern, but molding some contours (ala newer 'burbs and tahoes) to include speaker provisions and cupholders.

maybe i'll do some of these myself...

Re: What parts aren't out there?

you know the rods that go from the handle to the latch mechanism in the doors to get out of the truck.. ya that I can't find any anywhere. I don't know the overall need for these but it seems being able to buy everything else for the doors and not being able to buy these is odd.

Which bracket set exactly? It might be the Budweiser talking but I thought there's two sets....can't remember what the difference is but I'll look.

Re: What parts aren't out there?

If someone has a decent set of stepside rear bumper brackets let me know what you need out of them (maybe swap for a part?) and I'll see if we can't get those done...seems like a "No-Brainer"

Hey TriPro, please ask them to stamp the steel in a heavier gauge steel, that way when it rusts, it will take longer...
Just a thought..

Re: What parts aren't out there?

I think somebody oughta step up and fab some stainless steel ones. Plain, brushed, polished, done right they would last forever, no rust, no rivets to loosed...
I glass beaded my stockers, and rebuilt them. Worked good for about a month...a few lingering glass beads killed the metal to metal joints! Search continues,....

How about the 3rd door for the Suburbans? While your at it, you can go ahead and make the 4th door too.

I think the demand for Suburban specific parts is on the rise. Here are a few that would certainly sell (some have been mentioned already):
  • Sub/Panel Taillights in red and clear
  • Sub upper side trim in original finish or polished
  • Plastic headliner bows (these break during removal 90% of the time)
  • Headliner boards (in perferated and non-perferated)
  • Full length side drip rail
  • Drip rail over rear doors
  • Inner panels (3rd door, dummy door, cargo area)
  • Some type of replacement for the plywood in the cargo area. Possibly metal like a truck bed floor or a "bed wood kit" to convert to planks and strips. The bed wood kit would need some kind of backer to seal it up.
  • A gas strut kit for the liftgate (like what Hart_Rod did)
  • A rubberized cable kit for the tailgate (like what Hart_Rod did)
  • A full power window set for all for windows (I believe the rear regulators differ from the front)
  • Fuel filler door kit; round with cable release
  • Lift/tail gates
  • Barn doors

And I'd like to throw in one 60-66 part: A one-piece window kit for 60-63. The window will need to tilt back as it drops like an 88+. I'm working on a set using those regulators.

Re: What parts aren't out there?

Not quite a stamped repro, but how about a flip forward hood kit for these trucks.

that there is a fine idea. i think mine is just a piece of 1x4, but it should be corrected.

a 4th sub door would also rock! (i don't have a 'burb, but if i did, i'd want one.)

Re: What parts aren't out there?

Ok guys. We have at least one of the items your seem to be looking for. We have the "core support" patch. This will replace the rusted or corroted section of the core support right below the battery box. Here is a link to the part on our website.

Be sure to also check out our "New Items" page for the newest parts available.

Way to go, Brothers...that's good service! Now can you hurry up and get the other items we need that fast, too? LOL

I'll second the request for better inner rocker repair that has about 4" of outer floor included. We get calls for that continuously.

You could make one from the beltline down that would work for BOTH panels & burbs on the drivers side(similar to the 1/2 quarters that they have out for most musclecars, ect...). Pass side would involve 2 toolings unless it was left as a panel 1/4 & the purchaser could shorten it to fit a burb. Of course, with everything else, price would definitely be important too.

Good idea...finding a 40 year old unmolested truck is pretty tough.

Re: What parts aren't out there?

Here's another one that is really irritating us right now. Rear wheel tubs, fleetside, that aren't all wrinkled in the corners. They are terrible and seem to be getting worse!!! How hard can those be?

Chrome 71-2 outer grill shells. They look great on the wall, but do NOT fit! They are stamped at too flat an angle and don't match the shape of the hood.
