The kits start at $1200 for the base, and go all the way up to $3200 for the complete kit (includes Strong Arms, bags, power rack, polished stainless steering shaft and joints, trans x-member, and braided stainless power steering lines). And there are multiple variations in between.

Crossmember, all grade 8 mounting hardware, tie-rod end adapters and heims, rack and pinion mounting bushings (for a MII), and motor mounts.

There's a pic a page or two back with all the goodies... I will find it and paste it in.

Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

Here's some pics of a custom Dropmember I built for ABADSVT. He has a custom square tube chassis and wanted a Dropmember that would weld in. It is also sporting the 'new' lower control arm mounting caps.

Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

Nathan, why is it so tall? When I looked at the frame it's going on, it looks like it's the same arch as stock in the front, so is ther another reason it's so far bellow the rails? Also, where do the motor mounts go on this one?

I guess it will all make sence when I see pics of it installed, but it looks so much taller than the "normal" dropmember.

<edit>Love the new caps, it's those details that make your work stand out even more.

ABADSVT's chassis is 2x4 square tube and the stock frame is 5.5" tall... so the part on the member that butts up against the bottom of the custom chassis is 1.5" taller than the regular Dropmember... what makes it look tall is the piece that angles up to the inside of the frame... it's the same dimensions as the regular Dropmember, just looks a lot taller. Look at it some more and you will see what I am talking about. As for the motor mounts... we don't know for sure exactly how they will mount, I included the mounts tacked together so they can be modified.

Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

After I wrote that I was looking at the shot of the two together and it's the angle of the picture. When I look at the box tube vs. the bolt location, I see that it's only slightly taller.

Still love the look of it.

Now this may be a question for abadsvt, but is there any advantage to the welded crossmember vs. a bolted crossmember? I would think you would want the bolted because of natural flex that occurs in the truck while driving.

They're all pre-sold... I take the order and then build them. The one on the pallet is for another board member from Canada. He's putting it into a 66 Burb... I am waiting for some parts from ECE to come in so I can ship it to him all at once.

Right now it is taking about two weeks to get the member from the time the order is placed.

The only advantage of either or (a weld-in or bolt-in) is the application. In a stock chassis that has a factory crossmember that unbolts it only makes sense to design/build one that bolts in. In a custom built chassis it is much easier to go with a weld-in piece. Typically a tube chassis is more rigid than a stock frame (if designed and built properly). Therefore it would flex less and it would be less likely for stress fractures to develope at or along side the welds. A stock chassis can be modified to increase rigidity. It would be ideal to have as rigid a chassis as possible.

Don't know how I missed these questions... sorry for taking so long to respond!

I do not yet have any pics of one installed in a 73-87 truck or burb. I just shipped one out to another board member in Texas who will be installing it in a 73-87 truck. I also shipped one out a couple weeks ago for a 93 Suburban. I will be doing an install in a 73 blazer here shortly (well, hopefully shortly... it's one of my own, so in all reality it will probably be a while). Stock fenders do need to be removed if one wants to take advantage of the air suspension's adjustability, stock battery tray should be able to stay. As for tires rubbing while turning at full drop... steering radius is compromised at full dump, so is ground clearance. I drove Dino's 66 about 30 miles home from the Goodguy's show last month 3.25" off the ground... no rubbing.

Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

Couple new things for the Dropmember...

It now comes with cnc'd tie-rod ends in place of the fabricated ones I previously used. Also, I am working on an option to keep a steel spring for those 'static' guys (those who would not want air ride).

looks slick .
i've seen an englisch guy's work once somewhere on the net , he made that item bij drilling out a nut slide it over the rod and weld it up .... it worked the same but this looks better , you might even have it polished (looks like its made out of aluminium at least)
