Re: PO has me PO'd
Jon, any luck with bracing? Spasms settled down, just waiting for the muscles to stop aching

Re: PO has me PO'd
I was wrong on that cross brace, it can be put in after the longitudes, toke me awhile to get up off my creeper

Re: PO has me PO'd
Here's some current progress
I don't know who made this rocker, but it snapped into place...Fits like a glove to the original location. The bottom rear of the rocker panel has to be pulled in some more to keep door alignment correct in that area Hardest part so far was getting rid of the old rusty metal and attempts at patch panels, about a weeks worth of cutting to get it to this point. Now its about time to consider some bracing so I can remove longitudes and test fit the floor pan-next week... One problem on the lower 'A' post, seems the rust went up pretty high, I'll have to deal with the nut plate for the lower hinge

I guess I missed the switch, but what are you working on here? I'm thinking you have gotten a second project?

Re: PO has me PO'd
Yeah just a little side job to get some parts for the Jimmy/Chevy. Trying to see if the full floorboard can be modified for the Blazer/Jimmy trucks. It looks doable so far, just a reinforcement panel under the pass. side seat has tobe made or your old one has tobe used. Still have to look at the lower 'B' post area, see how it connects there
How's Japan treating you? Thanks Kurt, you and I must have been typing at the same time

Re: PO has me PO'd
Not really, but if I weld all the available patch panels together I should get close. Is it still standing?Do you have the instruction sheet?

Re: PO has me PO'd
Fit like a glove, little attention is needed around the trans. hump, but we'll address that as we deal with it. Will post up advice. Rite now it's zip screwed so I can move things around on the final fit. Seems to be well designed and manufactored, lines are crisp and in the rite location
Still have to install lower a and b post patches, as well as kick panels and firewall Next challenge is the firewall. Jon put the bottom or rear in first and tilted the floorboard in towards the roof, the second pc. of the longitudes (mounted on the firewall) interferred with pushing the floorboard in and up, so we just sliced them up to allow movement for installation of the floorboard

Wondering why there's a hole in the cowl...?
What's the install 'skill' level feeling like Jim? Could this piece be used for a guy's first project? |

Skill level 0-10, 10 being the hardest, about a 5. I have more problems with a and b posts lower patch panels. If the PO hasn't made any patches it's alot easier. When ya get into a factory spot weld it's alot easier. If ya can take a spot weld apart without destroying the metal your trying to save, you can do this, and that is easiest if you make the pc. your trying to remove flat( cut away all metal till you have a ribbon of metal with the spot weld in it), then just use the 4 1/2" grinder to remove the spot weld, then move on to the next one, prying up slightly I spent about a week and a half cutting out the old floorboard, plasma woulda helped. You can reinstall floorboard with plug welds, so you don't really have to know how the weld, if ya can fill in holes with a mig. You're dealing with a factory seam, front and rear, so it makes it easy to line up flanges (before I started, I painted the seam area, so it showed a line to match up) should also be less welding then a floor patch, if you consider total distance tobe welded Yes, depending on his ability, but I would recommend this as an entry level, far less fitting and cutting, fitting and cutting, fitting and cutting...So far all I did was cut out old floor, pop in new

Re: PO has me PO'd
Kurt- there are rust holes in it; just hard to see in the pictures. Most of the holes are down low near the mating flange for the floor. It's apart, we have the new firewall so we figured why not replace it and know we don't have any issue with rust to deal with.
