Re: Project: "Home Grown"
I have to do the same thing. I'm converting to 5 lug so I am ordering axels and the posi carrier from Mosier axel. The carrier alone is 480.00.

Re: Project: "Home Grown"
My spindles are brand new CPP 63-70 modular s, if they weren't so damn pricey to ship I would just sell em and change, I need new tie rods too, the arms have 84 ball joints, I think the guy did have to cut one of the lowers, so I have two new uppers that bolt in and one new lower that presses in.

Re: Project: "Home Grown"
The lowers are a pain to press out with that tapered ball joint cup.

Re: Project: "Home Grown"
Took a little time today mocking up the bag plates, I think I will end up welding them for a cleaner look prior to powder coating the assy.

Re: Project: "Home Grown"
welded would look cleaner...you could plug weld the bolt holes then weld the edge and grind smooth...

Re: Project: "Home Grown"
I wouldn't heat the arms... might have to make a tapered block to use?

Re: Project: "Home Grown"
I think we may try an air hammer on it, will likely destroy the ball joint but oh well.

Re: Project: "Home Grown"
Does anyone know how to tear down these damn arms? I want to get them powder coated a different color but I cant seem to see how to get the shaft out of the arm? I am thinking it was likely pressed in originally?

Re: Project: "Home Grown"
Nope, the shafts are threaded on both ends. put the shaft in a big vise and unscrew the ends

Re: Project: "Home Grown"
We disassembled a set about a year and a half ago to make delrin bushings for them so they would be compatible with the Dropmember... the bushings are in there pretty tight. They will eventually come out with a lot of effort and even more patience.

Re: Project: "Home Grown"
Looking at the break down photos of these arms it would seem that all I need to do is press them out one end, remove the bushing and repeat, maybe I should grease them up to get them to slide easier? I wonder if a little heat would help out as well?
