I would LOVE to share the color code if I had one! This color has stumped all of our painters here at work. We have fought and fought it doing multiple tints and spray outs. I will get you the code for the closest, which if you are doing a complete would be the closest and could always refer back to it. It is a very transparent color that requires a tinted sealer and a non transparent white base formula shot first to cover, then use this color on top. It is a VERY bright color in person. I get a lot of comments including " man, that thing is bright in the dark!"

I followed LoElco's advise this morning and sourced a rear sway bar from an 87 firebird. looks the same as in the thread and a whopping $25.00 delivered!

looks like it's tonight's project

Bead blasted, painted and installed after work. I just happened to have some 1x2 box tube laying in the scrap pile to build the outer frame spacers. The pics are crap, but its raining here and itook them a few minutes ago when I got home. Works great! Need to clean up the welds and paint some areas once I can get time to pull the wheels.

It really is an easy install. The donor car comes complete and the only thing you will need and have to do is trim the saddle brackets, cut the 1x2 square stock for the saddle pad spacers and cut the 1x2 for the frame spacers. It handles REALLY well but I think 80% is the front bar and now after installing it I don't see it working well with air ride and the ability to drop the truck on the ground then raise it to ride height. I'm sure I can build different links and work with the rear suspension cycle to come up with something close. I think it will end up on the back of my 50 Burb if the drastic height change on this truck interferes with the bar.

No squealing last night or on the way to work, its raining and wet here. The truck does enter into the corners much faster and hold a flat line like a go cart though. I keep thinking how much load the pinner white 235s can handle and have found that the lower parts of my torso like to bite into vinyl!

The addition of sway bars is a very cheap and easy upgrade to make these trucks perform very well, but BETTER BRAKES are a MUST HAVE if you do this. The single pot 4 drum system just isn't up to the additional speeds that get you close to trouble. I have a 4 disc, dual corvette master system waiting install and hope I can keep the size 12 off the skinny pedal long enough to get that system on the truck without incedent until then. They invite a very spirited driving style , you want to just keep going faster through the corners doubling the speeds you have normally driven through them on the way to and from work on your 75 mile commute through the farmland twisties. I'm glad it was dark and the headlights limited my speed.

Hauled a half bed load of firewood home tonight. My Champion Aluminum radiator showed up today so ill be tossing it, a new tstat, hoses and a fresh oil change on the Burb this weekend after work. If I have enough time I'm going to pull all the wheels and do some clean up and run some air lines and layout where I can hang the tank and compressor.

A buddy of mine text me this morning a link to a craigslist ad for a complete Vintage air system 64-66 trucks. I phoned the guy and hauled A$$ on my lunch hour ( and a half) North a few towns away to score the system.

My plans are to use the under hood components and install a Vintage Air mark IV unit under the dash. This system is the complete heat and a/c unit he just removed last week in a working condition. I will selling the cab system cheap if anyone is interested.

Another speed bump on what's becoming my DD lately. The trucks choke has never worked and as its getting into the 20's here, having to pump, crank, pump crank, sputter, crank etc has been , well no fun. I pulled the air cleaner to find the PO had wired the choke plate open, ran almost 6 volts continous powefr with key off to the choke pot ( no wonder I'm on the second battery) and had aparently tossed the arm from the choke pot to the choke plate. Found the arm local and the jesus clip, installed them correctly andthen re wired the choke pot to ignition switched 12v. Set it, adjusted it and all ok until the drive. Home. I must have pulled the starter/HEI/coolant sensor harness and caught it on the back of the head. I started to smell smoke ,but thought it was the clutch or brakes on the 3 trucks pulling horse trailers that were ahead of me. After the first 20 miles I have to stop at a signal and I see what looks like overheating steam from the grille. I pull over, shut it off and pop the hood. No signs of overheating, gauge looks good and smoke seems to be gone....must have been the trailer brakes on the horse trailers. I get another 10 miles and almost home when the coolant gauge starts to violently swing and then peg to the left just as the truck dies. Pull over, pop the hood and call AAA for a tow. 45 min wait so I strip the horn wire and run it from the solonoid to the hei cramming the bare wire up into the cap. Start it up and drive 2 miles home to pull out every cooked wire on the passenger side, top of engine and firewall. Thought I was goin to catch our local college ball game, but the truck Gods had me running around sourcing all the correct conectors, wire colors and get the truck running before the sun went down. I didnt beat the sun, but it runs again. Coolant gauge seems to be dead. Need to run a jump wire before I totally condem it, but I'm gambling its a gonner based on how fast it was pegging left to right bfore it stopped.

Here's some of what I took out and replaced. Drove it around tonight and no high beams? Maybe a little more damage than I thought.
