Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

I vote for option C all the way. Make this one your NICE driver that is still show worthy (it is now) and take all the time you want to build the other one total show. There is another thread on here about how cost ineffective it is to rebuild an already finished truck. I say don't go down that road.

True and winter is coming and I don't exactly have another vehicle but the drivetrain is an upgrade at this point I'd love to see the extra gas mileage and longer gears on the highway maybe start making longer trips around the state Goal: Brothers next summer

Found some metal in the bottom of the 3rd member when I changed the oil yes it would be easy to fix the ring and pinion buuuut I'll be swapping to disc and posi in the future anyway and might as well get the tranny driveline and rear end all suited to eachother in one fell swoop

Quote:
I always choose C...lol nice truck
It would be easy and I have many lists of different items I could focus one and thank you long time coming to feel like I deserve those compliments

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

So the decision is made I'll be buying up a few dress-up pieces this month to get ready for the C/10 Bash at Rene's Still deciding whether or not to go with Brothers Classic parts or Truck shop the later is who I've always gone with but maybe the others offer a better product? unsure throw some advice in if you've ordered from those three also awaiting a classic industries truck mag too

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

I've been happy with everything I purchased from the truck shop and find their prices MUCH cheaper than other vendors....classic industries has some good deals if you buy when 20% off sale is going on

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Good to know that you've been happy with classic truck as well I've only dealt with them the last three times and haven't had an issue and yes they are quite a bit cheaper I think classic parts ended up like 75$ higher ordering the same stuff so I think I've got some ordering to do now thanks for the feedback

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Well as promised I have my goodies update but first how it al went down ordered my parts from Truck shop out of Orange, CA Wednesday morning expecting them to arrive next week when in fact they showed up friday afternoon (THANKS FOR THE GREAT SERVICE TRUCK SHOP) Have always dealt with them when getting new parts for the truck and they never let me down. Now onto the install stuff I had a lil family day on saturday so I couldnt do anything other than slap my new pedals and trim on in the interior and then finally sunday afternoon got down to it involving installing my new antenna and gauge cluster setup after I restored the OEM equipment heres the rundown Enjoy and thank you for checking in..

First off here are all the goodies I got
Instrument Panel
Non-telescopic AM-FM antenna (never had regular radio in the truck before)
New gas pedal pad and trim (had brake pad with trim in my own stash already)
new stainless day-night mirror (old one was very scratched)
ashtray bumpers
Em. Brake handle
2 rear deluxe marker lights (mine were faded bad)
left and right defroster vents (hoses are on back order)
and a new windshield washer jar
[IMG][/IMG]

Old instrument bezel with tinted gauge faces and faded pointers
[IMG][/IMG]

tint on the oem lens
[IMG][/IMG]

Glow orange paint with brushes and i also slit the parts bags and slipped the pointers through to hand paint them and then let them cure in the sun didn't need something over the top just to update and see them better
[IMG][/IMG]

Finally! the old bezel vs. new bezel look obviously the gauges can be seen alot better now along with the pointers and cleaned up lens
[IMG][/IMG]

The money shot such an improvement and it makes me feel like i've stepped into someone elses truck every day now
[IMG][/IMG]

Also bought brand new 194 bulbs for the backside and man did that brighten up my setup
[IMG][/IMG]

also new pedals with trim
[IMG][/IMG]

as well as my new jolly green giant antenna with a C/10 club shout out picture for Rene and all the group
[IMG][/IMG]

Thank you it wasn't much work really it was pretty straight forward after I read up making sure not to undo the gauge panel upside down allowing stuff to fall out which I wouldn't have known if not for the board here easy upgrades brother

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Whew I think I might be close in funds to a GM turn key 350 if I came to pick up that SB in Oklahoma from ya in my truck but hey I'm supposed to have family from my moms side out there she'd enjoy that just not the no A/C part and 216 never have heard of that size least not in a long time
