It's only a short box, so if I put the fuel tank back there I will have to make a few more trips hauling the winter fire wood. I DID THE MATH

Re: Farmers big block

Got the grill, mirror arms, head light and turn signal bezels back from D&G chrome in LA CA they did a good job.

I cut 3" out of the mirror arms. The picture shows the stock 5" mirror mounted to it. I'm thinking about going to a 4" or 3 3/4" mirror head what do you guys think.

I got the glove box door on it only took me 2 hours.

I got the chevy emblem from a local swap meet. It's off a 55 or 56 sedan rear quarter panel. I bought the vent windows from the same swap meet, the PO had them chromed.

Re: Farmers big block

Made a little head way on the truck. Finished the bed wood inlays and did a test fit. It looks ok know it's time to put on the finish.

Re: Farmers big block

I finely finished the bed wood and installed the bed for the last time. Making the wood has taken a lot longer than it should of. I had one inlay that didn't look right so I had to redo the whole board. I picked the wrong finish the first time so I had to strip all the board and start over. Next time I think plywood would work just fine.

That looks REALLY nice. Definetly worth all the effort you put into it.

I remember how nice the truck looked in person when I saw it. Hope I get to see it out cruising in person sometime.
Great Job.

Re: Farmers big block

I definitely have to agree....VERY nice!

I can't think of any plywood that could possibly look right in that truck....maybe in a past life, but not now

Re: Farmers big block

Thank you all

I have been working on this truck for almost three years. I have set a date that she has to be completed by. Which is July 25th (yes this year) I have made my reservations and paid the fee for the Pacific Northwest GoodGuys show.

I don't have a lot to do but some times the little things can eat up a lot of time.
Working on the hood today, Saturday I have two friends coming over to help me put the front end on.

ahhhhh too bad you are not coming up for the Spokane Show the 16-18th of August.
Wife and I put in for leave for August and if it goes thru, I will enter our Pontiacs in the show. It would be awesome to see yours and meet you.

In the next couple years, after we both retire, we plan on making as many of the PNW shows as possible (we bought a 1955 two ton flat bed and a 20' trailer to haul our cars with mostly for this purpose).

Last year her 1972 LeMans was not ready so we only showed my '66 Tempest.

Your bed looks awesome, would sure like to see how you did that !!
