Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Thanks!
Reesew, hopefully I was able to answer your questions in my PM. Its in! just sitting there not bolted in, but IN! Cleaned a little and painted the block. I'm not too worried about it being perfectly clean, this thing is meant to drive! Still need to finish welding in the clutch rod hole, ran out of gas for my welder. I'll get the AC holes later. It might be a little too far back for the coils to mount, we'll see when I put the trans mount in. |

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Thanks guys. I'm trying to keep it as far back as possible, not that I'm building a drag truck, just want the room up front. I just jacked up the trans tail a little and the coils fit on there fine so its staying where its at. When I get around to putting AC on the truck I'll have to do some work to the passengers side mount to get the AC compressor in there, but I'll worry about that when it comes. I can't wait to drive this thing

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Well I installed the trans mount and tried to put in the trans crossmember. When I jacked up the trans to get the mount in, the top of the trans hit the cab. I think I could have made clearance by cutting off the pinch weld and maybe some hammer work, but I decided it was better to move the engine forward. So now the engine is 1.75" further forward. At least now it has some bolts holding it in with a trans mount so its within 1/2" of its final location.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Intake back on and motor bolted in for good I hope.
Need to figure out some manifolds. Mine hit the motor mount stands on both sides. Driveshaft is about 1.5" too long... |
