I wouldnt have bought this one if it werent for the fact that it was a diesel. Ive been hunting a squarebody diesel for a while, just didnt expect to find it in an extended cab. It will be a pretty nice truck tho. It has a couple of body flaws, but I think pop a dent can get most out, and a relcear will revive the paint.

Re: Square body extended cabs
Noi differrence, but the dually is unique and I already have a 68 Suburban and a 69 IHC Travelall, so really just no interest in another grocery getter unless it was from the 50's. Like a NAPCO Suburban, that would be nice.

Re: Square body extended cabs
I've been in the ever so slow process of replacing the headliner in my truck done by Custom Vehicles International. After practically destroying the old headliner to get it out, it was in for quite the surprise. Now keep in mind that the following photo was taken just after I put some insulation material into the roof. Originally the outer skin was uninsulated.
The old headliner was a factory headliner extended 18" using some sort of high density foam material. Almost the entirety of the headliner was glued to the ceiling, hence nearly destroying it. To extend the cab they made their cuts and pulled the cab apart. The edge of the front half of the roof was bent down using what appears to be pliers and just behind it rests a bowed piece of C channel to help support the roof. They then made a left, right, and center patch panel to extend the inside structure while the outside was handled using a large sheet of steel and about a 4-6" overlap on top of the front portion of the sheet metal. It's quite the hack job, but I guess it worked! Last edited by Maxzillian; 01-07-2011 at 12:15 AM. |
