Plugging along in the undercoating world. Last of the fenders done today, still have a lots of little painting projects to do on some brackets and core support. Thankfully the weather here is cooperating so far.

I used bed liner inside the fenders, under the cab, and also coated the running boards. I hope to drive my 50 regularly and don’t want to worry too much about rocks flying.

Should help reduce some road noise too

Re: Jans 53

Thanks everyone. I’m hoping to get enough done this year so that maybe I can put some paint on it next summer. The hardest part has been trying to pick a color.

Re: Jans 53

Paint? Then final assembly and driving? I can see that sometime in my future, I think.

Robert, since everything takes me 3 times longer than normal I’m not counting on it.

Re: Jans 53

Well you got that going for you. I'm still at the three times longer, do it wrong anyway, and then have to do it all over again!

Matt refer to post #169
I’m the wife, and I say it’s ok it can stay as long as it needs to!
Although, it is motivation to get this thing done.

Re: Jans 53

haha gorgeous!

I had a BMW friend who was married, he had some scheel seats in the living room and a M10 head with dual webers on the kitchen table. outside the driveway and back yard were FULL of projects. his wife didnt mind at all.

she lived one street over in her own place. he tried to fill up the driveway there with projects though and she had them towed to his place

edit: he is still at it. there are probably 10 cars in the back yard, and every bmw in the picture is his, from the blue one on the right to the green one on the extreme left and all up the driveway (the mini is built by BMW too)

Re: Jans 53

I am guilty of rebuilding a manual transmission on my kitchen island once (I did put plywood underneath to protect the tile). It was warmer and the lighting was way better than the garage.

Re: Jans 53

Spent the day rebuilding my hinges. Think I’m going put a little blob of weld on the side of the pin after I cut and taper the end so it can’t ever back out while in the truck

I need to rebuild my hinges as well....I'm thinking of out outsourcing that task. Was it as much of a pain as most people say it is?

Yes Robert I saved myself a set. I think I’m going to drill my holes in the hinge and plug weld the plates on from the rear of the hinges

Re: Jans 53

Those look great! Wish I'd thought to weld them from the back.
