Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
I always called it, "i don't have a garage, or enough money for a nice paint job, so this is what happens when you let a car sit outside too long".... Poor mans rat rods. I'm shocked at what some of the people pay to get their rides to look so "abandoned" or "hardly roadworthy"...
Trends are trends though.. At least this ones cool to look at. |

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?!?!?!?
I spend 5000 dollars on NEW sheetmetal, paint, and body so my truck does NOT look like any of these anymore.......AND NOW IT'S COOL?!?!?!? So, essentially, I wasted my money. My dents, rust and faded paint were actually worth something? What did I miss? when did this happen? Wait until you see my NEXT build. I'm not gonna do anything but put rimz on it 30 years from now. Hey! I'm beginning to like it already. My wallet is digging this kind of buildup. Hells yes. Last edited by Gregs67; 11-15-2008 at 11:03 PM. |

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
The decision was easy for me. I don't have deep pockets.....my pockets are sewn shut. It sucks when you have to be a part of a trend that allows you to save 5K+ on paint and body work. I love this rat rod trend. It allows all my junk to fit in.....for now! Granted, when they pop the hood, they see where the money went. I won't be so lucky with my fastback. No rat rod trend there. YIKES!

The 'rat-rod' creations trend of late will go out of style IMO; classic/shop trucks... nope.

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
I just looked up the word "patina" on Wikipedia and I will never call my truck a rat rod or rat truck again. That is the perfect description of these type trucks. My truck is not a "rod", so I'm not sure why I called it that in the first place. Dang.....there are parts of my body that have "patina-ed" over time!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Is this a board members Jeep? If so, I'd like to know more about it.

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?
they mine.
57 wagon ..................stock as she came from the factory cept overdrive and some newer wheels and radials. 61 CJ-5...........stock (Body) Buick V-6 balanced, blueprinted, isky cam, D.U.I. ignition, chevy truck clutch ( I had to re-drill the flywheel) SM420 4 speed , Dana 20 "straight through" transfercase, Dana 60 rear Dana 44 front 4;56 gears,11 inch brakes, Rancho 2 1/2 inch suspension, Swampers on aluminum wheels...... full cage............oh and a Meyers (the snow plow company) steel cab. I know this isn't a Jeep forum , but both these "trucks" have loads of patina.
