Both divots at the top tail light panels for the old tail gate chains were welded and filled.I noticed on some trucks this has not been done and I felt it looked unfinished.
Drives/passenger box seams and tail light panels were welded and smoothed for a more finished appearance,not to mention nowhere for moisture to enter any longer.Now the box sides look and are one piece.
Also to help anyone who wanted to do this is a couple pics closer up of the fuel filler tube and where the cut was made in the rear cross sill.The vent tube is welded to the filler tube and both welded into their final determined location at the rear cross sill mounts.

Now that the box is complete,I will be moving back to the front of the truck and focusing on rad support,inner fender,.....etc. bodywork !

Thanks my friend,I appreciate it ! After all of the ideas I'v seen over the last couple years,Its been great to use some of them on my project.

I have a friend up here building a '65 shorty,he's slammed and bagged it as well.I sent him a couple pics of yours and he thinks your bed idea is pretty cool.

I hope to see him get on this site and start a thread,If it ends up like any of the bikes he builds,It will be a jaw dropper when its finished.

That's some awesome bodywork going on with the truck. Since you're welding up the seams are you going to weld the seam along the front of the hood and the front of the front fenders? I've seen the hood seam welded up before but have never seen the seam on the front of the front fenders welded. Not sure how that would look.

How about some pics of the rear of the cab. I had heard that if you deal the cab up too tight the doors wont shut , unless you slam them.. Can you show me how you where able to find a solution to that issue.. ???

You bet I am! already in the works for the fenders and hood.If you want to see some already done,check out the Vitamin-c build by Allan's classic in the projects and build section.
That seam on the fenders is prone to rust,welding it up is a good way to seal it and it looks great.

Recently received my new carpet from Auto custom carpet.I spent a fair bit of time researching companies out there that make a product for this year truck,hands down these guys make the best.

I went with the later year carpet as it was a far nicer looking product,I didn't care about period correct carpet for my truck,especially after looking at what was....gag and barf !

The pics don't do it a a'lot of justice,I had a hard time trying to get good photo's.I did add a close up that show's the loop's grain.
I'v seen others in a full carpet and samples...,no contest This stuff is going to make the floor pop !

Also got some ABS kick panels.Now at first they don't fit well,but once the carpet is in they can be trimmed to fit.I might do some mod's to them so they will end up a good match to the rest of the interior.

Hopefully get this installed in the next couple weeks.I was going to wait till after exterior paint,but I'm getting impatient with the progress.

Yes it does,Its the same product as yours through stock interiors.ACC out of Alabma manufactures it,definitely the superior brand.
It's been sitting in the spare room for a couple weeks,waiting for a sunny day.

Haha, This is funny... the first thing that came to mind when I heard Ed on the phone was Sam Elliot's character, 'the Stranger' (the guy that tells the story, or if you really get into it 'god').

Certainly one of the best movie's of all time.

I like the extra detail to the bed, and agree many don't finish off the back of the bed, it is those touches that make the difference between a truck and a really nice truck.

I like the stock line in the bed. I am not sure leaving it makes for a less clean looking truck..

Tomorrow Im picking up the bed wood and possibly the bed strips.The wood and strips are the Mar-K hidden bolt system,this should really clean up the box and eliminate corrosion around where the fasteners would have been.

The number is 1248-65 in a loop -01black.Its cheaper to buy it through Stock interiors,its the same product.Just phone them and give them these numbers.

My box wood and strips arrived today.Got home and took it out of the boxes pronto.
Unfortunately the manufacturer shipped the wrong product Urgh !!!!!.But that's ok ! I only waited 2 months for it...no big deal.

The wood kit is supposed to be no drill so the main carriage bolts are hidden underneath the deck,not to mention it showed up with a large crack in one of the boards ....,and clearly not shipping related.

Oh well,another setback.Getting used to it and even calculate it in to my "HOPE TO GET IT DONE IN THIS LIFE TIME" time frame.

The good news is the strips look fantastic.They are a hidden fastener system ,so no exposed bolts in these.They are more expensive,but well worth it if you want this clean look.
