So far I have the deluxe heater box with the recirc vent and cable for a normal truck that only has the fan on-off switch.
I just want to see how you put yours back together, as I was tossing and turning last night I wondered why a control assembly from some other 60s era General Motors vehicle would not work.

I will ponder this more as I look for updates from ya ;o)

mcmurphy, i'll take pictures when i put it back together, i'm waiting on parts! the center lever was broke, and i'm pondering on butting the black level knobs on or some other kind, billet or something! i'll keep you posted as to what i end up doing!!

fryer, thanks for the comments, the trim piece is plastic and has two broken taps on it, so i'm going to buy another and paint it to match the silver i'm going the trim pieces outside of the truck!!

well i started taking the heater box apart, then realized that the part that bolts to the cowl was broke on one side! so i started taking it apart so maybe someone would have it, i would like to just get the part i'm looking for instead of a whole heater box! anyways heres a few pictures of the part i need to fix the heater, i dont want to put it on the truck the way it is! even thou it wouldn't hurt it any, i just want it to look right! second picture right top side you can see it's bent, last picture is of the broken piece, to give you a better picture of why i'm needing to replace this whole piece!!

well had no luck going to the salvageyard friday! i did get my headers in friday before we left, will try to install/mock them on the truck today! and maybe get so other stuff done on it today!! anyways merry christmas to all that read this, i'll post more later after i get back from being over there today! going to work on my truck and eat dinner so i'll be there for a while!!

ok, while i was mocking the headers up yesterday i realized i need to move the motor back a lil, to the back set of hole on the crossmemeber! the tubes were hitting the lower control arm, and with the motor having a long water pump it would be best if i move the motor back anyways! i also put the grille panel on and the grille just to see it looking like a truck again, and i wanted to see what the heater face panel would look like on the dash so i got pictures of it too! anyways heres some pictures of what i did!!

Hey man,
I have a spare heater set up, and took some pics of it for you.
When I was in the garage I could not remember which one you needed, so I am adding a pic of each.
The part I think you want, that I have is for a regular heater core, though you could cut it to the 9.5" deluxe size.
You are welcome to either part, or both, just shoot me a PM with a good mailing address and I will try to get it out in the snail-mail to you this week!

thanks 57truckguy, i'm making a lil progress here and there! i got my big back window gasket, the lock bead tool, heater control lever, and new heater knobs in yesterday! i'll post picture later of it put back together and show you the back for the panel were i drilled hole for the screws! incase anyone wants to take one apart!! anyways i now have everything i need for the big back window conversion, i got two tubes of the panel adhesive! i'll be filling in the bed seam that runs the length of the bed like 198plus did!

Ok that does not look impossible to figure out!
Thanks for the pics, and here are some more for you!!
To make this a "deluxe" all you would have to do is cut out the fresh air hole larger, about 2 or 3 inches and re-drill the heater core mounting holes.
And in pic #4 remove that rusted vent baffle. Then this will bolt(screw) right onto the rest of the heater box you have.

Forgot to mention it is all straight, no dents or dings to it.

alan, i'm going to paint the motor and trans first, i might try to get that done this weekend! then i'll but it in and move it back an install the headers, the exhaust will still be a lil under the frame rail!

protrash, i believe the drill bit i used to drill the holes was a 3/32! the things that look like rivets are not, drill the tips of them off, take it apart! cut off the the things that look like metal dowels, drill the holes, put your screws in! then if you ever want to take it apart you can just unscrew it and paint it!
one more thing the two screws that hold the plate for the light! you'll need #6 1/2" screws and get #6 washers, and between the heater face panel and the light bracket put the washers! that way theres a gap between the plastic piece and the metal piece for the light to shine through, and the two pieces aren't pressed together!

thanks mcmurphy, if you ever need anything let me know, i would like to return the favor! i'll be able to get the heater together once i get a few new parts for it, like a fan blade, fan motor, and new cables, then it will be like new! i'm going to clean and paint they other parts today as long as the weather stays in the 60's for a lil while longer!!

hey chad what kind of fan blade do you need. I have one off an orginal 57 heater, motor was shot so I ditched it but kept the blade.. It is in what appears to be very good shape... no dents or dings. 4 bladed and about 8 inches across maybe a little smaller, its in the garage and its 4 in the morning, I look later when I get up if you are interested...or if it would work for you..

ya it wont work 57truck, i did get some stuff done in the last two days! i forgot to take a picture of the rear bumper, got it grinded down and painted! i also got the motor set back and cleaned and painted! heres two pics, i didnt get the headers on today. but will later this week!
