Re: Tail light fuel filler
Hello all,
I am sorry for the very long delay in me giving an update but I have been out of town for an extended amount of time. I will be back next week and hope to get some time to work on the project. The company I work for is being sold and the new owners are taking the reins probably by the time I return so I am not sure what to expect or how is may effect my being able to work on our project. Ok, enough excuses, I apologize again for the delay but will do my best to have something better to post by the end of next week. Stay tuned. Cheers! Mickm |

Re: Tail light fuel filler
Hi guys,
Sorry for the delay....again! My company has been purchased and at this time I am not able to get my prototype cut and broken due to massive work flow from the new owners. Until I am able to get this we are dead in the water. I am also have to be out of the office quite a bit thus the lack of posting. As soon as I have any news, I'll report back. Keep your fingers crossed. Cheers! Mickm69 |

Re: Tail light fuel filler
When it's ready I will take one also. Hope it's done pretty soon! Great design really fills a need. My 67 is waiting.

Re: Tail light fuel filler
I am guessing this thread is dead... the guys that were doing this conversion have just stopped trying to make the kit... man I wish they would come out with it... I am getting close to needing this done and I really don't want to reinvent the wheel...

Re: Tail light fuel filler
He may not have the access to the equipment he was using when he started. I know my own projects don't progress like they used to when I had access to a large shop full of equipment and a welding class shop next door that had even more equipment for forming and fabricating.

Sorry guys, I haven't been on much to check this thread lately. The main problem is no time, but I will update you when I can. Thanks

Re: Tail light fuel filler
I was using a stainless, push-up marine style filler, labeled "water", and machining the mounting lip off of it. Like this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-316-stai...vip=true&rt=nc

Re: Tail light fuel filler
Hey Wynne,
You have used this setup for several years now, do you have any trouble doing fillups at the pump? What gas tank are you using? I am still leaning towards a similar setup but worry about slow filling.... |

Re: Tail light fuel filler
I have one of Fuelcellguy's tanks, and don't have any trouble with slow filling, but I usually don't hold it wide open. I usually fill it at about 1/2 to 3/4 speed, which is plenty fast enough, and it's only a 16 gallon tank, so it doesn't take long. If I top it off too fast, it will burp fuel out when it gets full, and if I pull into a station that has the big boot around the nozzle, I may have a problem, but so far it hasn't happened. I think the key to fast filling is being able to vent the tank as fast as you want to fill it. I have mine vented with a 3/8" hose at one corner, and another 3/8" hose running from the top of the tank to the filler, just below the gas cap. It works ok, but I think a 1/2" vent line would be better.
