Re: Project Topless 365/24/7

Not alot going on right now. The tub is sitting in the garage and the frame is at the sandblaster with alot of other parts.

I did buy some wheels yesterday for it with the help of gringo and Tim Christian.

I finally ordered them today while we were at dinner. Mandi said I could so I didn't wait. Had the number in my phone.

Coy Wheels

20x8.5 up front

22x9 in the rear

I talked to all of the dealers in the area Keith. It was cheaper to go this route, just for the tax alone.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7

Everything is still in pieces and at the sandblaster. Tub is still sitting in my garage.

I think the wheels are coming today. I did get the rear disc brake kit from Blackbirds Customs.

Thanks to Randy and Drink for the great deal.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7

Now were talking, looks great! Hey do your self a favor and before you start putting the frame together put a good 2 coats of wax on the frame and on all the parts as they go on. It will help theym stay clean and wipe down real easy plus it will look even more bad a$$ than it already does. If I can what range did the wheels cost you (PM me if you want) and who did you get them from? Only a 13 day turn around is not bad!

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7

Thanks for the tip about the wax. I'll try that tomorrow afternoon.

I'm going to try to use Chuck's(thelonerife) dolly that he got from you to put the body back on. Hoping that it will work on a blazer

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7

Are you bagging this thing? If you are you might want to hack those bump stop brackets off of your LCA before you mount them and run out of paint. Project looks good, keep up the good work.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7

Not bagging the front just the rear and running valves out the rear.

Thanks Trav, too bad you aren't in town you could come by.

Hope to have the front end done and tires on by the end of the day.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7

I'v got the laptop in the garage with me, so I can update on a regular basis.

Here's what I've gotten done.....went by my buddies this morning and used some of his tools to get the upper and lower control arms together and the lower ball joints in.

The problem is that the studs on the bags are too short to go through the c-notch and the frame, so they are up for sale.

Flipping the frame over as after I get done typing. Happy

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7

Well, pretty good day overall. I thought I had a big problem at first. I drilled the holes for the air bags and the big hole for the air line to go into. One problem with the C-notch there the studs on the top of the bags won't go all the way through to the inside of the frame rail. So I was scared to death that I just drilled 6 holes for nothing. I called my friend Jason Bullock and he told me that the Slam Specialties Bags have the same hole alignment, and you have to use a bolt to go down inside the bag. So I'm selling my firestone bags and I'll buy some of the RE-7 Slams.

Other then stripping out one of the lower control arm U-bolts I'd say I had a pretty good day. Got all of it done that I wanted to get done other then getting the sway bar on, brake hoses, and shocks. For some stupid reason the shocks didn't come with new bolts. I went to Ace but some how grabbed the wrong size and couldn't do it. For the sway bar, there is no holes on the frame so more drilling YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!! Sad
