Re: 58 GMC Project

Hey 55ChevyPU, I know what you mean by needing a break. I've been working on my truck during the week and every weekend for the last 3 months and really needed a break myself. So Took this last week off and my wife and I went on a 7 day cruise to Mexico, which was a blast! Now it's time to get back to work on the truck again.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Hey Cal55GMC,

I went by my brothers house the other day and he still has not developed those pics of the 55 Panel truck. But remember the chopper I was telling you about? I took pics of that and man it is a nice bike (you know I had to get my 55 210 in the pic also.lol)

If you want to see pics of the chopper go to my 55 210 site below

Re: 58 GMC Project

Hey kabwe,

I like the springer up front, it gives it classic chopper look. Is the bike a true ridget or a soft tail?

Re: 58 GMC Project

Thanks for the concern. The flu lasted 5 day's but it's finally gone. I have just been finishing up some small details on my truck, nothing really worth posting. This Saturday I am going to tow the chassis down to the body shop. The guy wants to mount the body on the frame and line up the gaps on the panels. It's an extra expense having to tow it down but it should be worth it. The truck you picked up looks clean!

Re: 58 GMC Project

Thanks, Southedisto. It's been a lot of work and the folks here on the board have been really supportive. When a person such as you gives a thumbs up, it makes all of the hard work worth it! 55ChevyPU has a really nice project too. Jebb1978 is just getting started and has made some great progress in the short time since he started. Dwcsr has done some trick mods on his frame and suspension. Kabwe, Jebb1978, Igotachevyor2, 55Chevy and many others have given me some great inspiration along with making some good friends. Thanks for checking out my project and keep coming back.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Glad to hear your doing well buddy! I can't wait to see that cab back on the frame. Thanks for the compliment, I really like that old rig. it was a lot of fun driving it out on the open road. I got people checking it out almost everytime I stopped.

Re: 58 GMC Project

It really sounds like you had a good road trip. Are the plans the same for the truck?

Pretty much, I do have a bit more of a budget now that I sold my 78 so I am going to do more than I had planned to. Basically I want to do all the frame mods (as much like yours as I can) and I am going to get all new suspension, brakes, driver train. I can afford to do more up grades than before but still won't be able to paint yet. That's what I am looking at.

58 GMC,

I glad you like the bike and it is a true ridget. I don't ride anymore I grew up and old enough now to where it hurts when I fall.lol

Can't wait to see that cab back on the frame.

Thumbs up Re: 58 GMC Project

Thanks, dwcsr & Jebb! It was really cool to see it with the cab on it after 8 month of work and the cab off. He will have it for the week fiting doors and gaps then the cab comes back off and the block sanding starts and then paint in about two weeks.

I let all of the air out but I did not pay attention to how low the rockers were. I know the crossmember is about 3/4 of an inch from the ground when the air is all out.

Thanks Kabwe! It made my hart pump a few beats faster after I got the cab on. Wednesday He's going to have the front clip on and I am going to take a few more pic's and post them.
