Headed out while I lived in Alaska, with my Water Camper to Whittier Alaska Gateway to the Prince Williams Sound halibut / salmon fishing, Alaskan style.
Oh and don't forget the Fresh Shrimp and King Crab!

Sweet, I've always loved those SeaSports. Did a lot of cruising in a 22' explorer growing up.

Re: post up your camping pics
an overnighter, not camping pictures- work actually, but was still a nice trip....
some guy in the bush built a shop & needed a roof, just over 200 miles away. after driving for 2 1/2 hrs, we get to where we need to be, but we're on the north side of the river, & need to get to that mountain on the other side turns out we have to go 40 more miles, cross the river & then backtrack. quite a steep narrow road up the mountain, especially with the work truck (S.Duty diesel crew with a 18 ft flatdeck trailer). right after this corner i put the camera down, part of the road slid down the mountain & it was about 6 ft wide (felt like 3...) guy was really, really, REALLY sticky about his privacy, so i took no pics of our job or around his house, but i did walk to the other side of the lake & took a couple- i can see why he values his privacy, who would'nt love to live there...... |

Re: post up your camping pics
weather was beautiful yesterday, took the dawg & drove/hiked to the top of Mt Cheam, a local mt.
last time i was up there was in the early '90's when it was being logged. road has been de-activated, so they cross-ditch the heck outta it to save the road from the immense snows. eight miles in from the turn off, took a hour & a half.... bench rd to the turn like a non-stop roller coaster, usually cross-ditches are a foot, these were 3 feet, 4 feet & sometimes more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biWJJ6IvHj8 |

Re: post up your camping pics
first sight of the mt i'm looking for
getting closer.... they have blocked the road & made a parking lot- no one else around for miles. one good thing about the rd, it should keep the riff-raff & party hounds away so it should look like this in 20 more yrs.... when i was about 1/2 way down the mt, i met 2 young (and very fit!) ladies on their way up, they parked their car at the turn-off & had hiked all the way in.....on my way out, i noticed it was a volvo.... |

Re: post up your camping pics
once the snow melts off, would like to go up Lady, it's about 200 feet higher
wanted to get a "wow" pic at the edge, but dawg screwed that up. he chased a cheam chipmunk out onto a snow precipice, with a 6500 foot drop to the valley floor beneath him. everytime i went to the edge, he was right behind me, looking for the chippies, i REALLY should have brought his leash for up there, he was making me so dam nervous jumping around the edge.... what a way to spend the day!! Re: post up your camping pics
heat wave continuing, so up the mountains again!
one minor drawback with a lifted truck....with the ramps on the t.gate, the wheels lift off halfway up, even with my face stuck to the front fenders.... this guy followed me for 15 miles- nice truck! there's where i'm heading theres the road down there, & the cross ditches are getting pretty severe, so this is as far as the crew goes. no use beatin' on it anyways when i got the quad... |

Re: post up your camping pics
much easier loading/unloading in the bush, just back into a hill
some of bc's infamous cross-ditches.... used my old canon sure-shot. my wife actually got me a go-pro last christmas, but being a complete computer dweeb, i have been waiting for her to set it up & show me how to work it. think i might try figure it out myself, tired of getting footage of my handlebars....plus it sucks muscling a 650 lb machine over rocks & logs with one hand.....never would have bogged it at that one spot otherwise..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKH8RFH4A7w |

Re: post up your camping pics
just spent a week at one of the most remote lakes in the coquihalla region.
heat was just intense. day we left, temps were nudging 100, hottest we've had in yrs. going up the coquihalla is 4-6% for about 15 miles, then kicks up to 8-10% for another 5 or 6 miles. somehow we tipped the scales at just under 16 k, even though we were light 200 lbs this yr. (my beloved passed mastiff...) i did bring a lot of extra fuel on this trip though. (good thing-forgot the rods! ) just before we hit the "smasher", where the road ramps up, with the weight, temps, & grade, even the mighty 454 was feeling it, ran up to 207 degrees. first time ever, i decided to pull over & let it cool down. after 20 mins, we hit the hill & it never broke 205 all the way to the top, we did pass about 8 cars & trucks that did'nt make it- tow trucks were having a field day.... hiding in some shade cooling down, dawg also cooling down.... they been putting up new transmission towers nearby, so most of the way in is quite nice, just not a lot of places to pass-but never ran into anyone anyways pretty skinny, runty little doe.... |

Re: post up your camping pics
nice drive, nice views. see the smoke in some of the pics? forest fire broke out about 200 miles away- got a lot worse.....
last few miles were rough, & narrow. nothing crazy, but still 8 ft wide, 12 ft tall, 40 ft long, & blah, blah, blah. i did make a short vid, but it turned out like toilet. was holding my old canon, & with the potholes, it was all over the place..... |

Re: post up your camping pics
able to launch the boat a few feet from the truck. see the crappy little dock.....
again, only 10 minutes & the boy is buzzin' around in the boat we found this old submerged dock, & muscled it over to ours. was my fav spot to sit every nite & watch the fish jump, of course 'cause i dont have my rods.... someone went threw a lot of work to haul in & build the slide dock. sure was nice, kid used it, & after i "'weisered" up, i too went down the slide my submarine dawg... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6Gq...ature=youtu.be |

Re: post up your camping pics
woke up the second day surrounded by 1/2 ton heifers & their calves. there's a cattleguard near one end of the lake & free range beyond that. about 40 of them broke the fence beside the cattleguard(pathetic fence-1x2 with some barb wire...) so me & my son got to play cowboy & herded them back where they belong, & did the rancher a favor & drove some logs into the ground & re-strung it. didn't mind them, but did'nt like their calling cards...& they did not like dieseldawg. must have thought he was a coyote, they kept lowering their heads & charging him, prob from dealing with the coyotes, which we heard howling every nite
noticed they had a WC brand on them- Wandering Cows?? and with the temps & fires burning, there's a complete fire ban on right now-BUMMER! so this was our "fire entertainment", he loved the strawberries & cherries the wife left in the fire pit |

Re: post up your camping pics
we rode about 20 miles to this lake. the smoke from the fire a couple hundred miles away is getting real thick....blotting out the mountains, & really stinking
again, out in the middle of nowhere, is this beauty of a throne. it's got a vinyl floor & a color matched seat. wonder if thats how the lake got it's name, Jon-o.... smoke was getting really heavy later that day, sun was a blood red-orange-ish dawg did not like it it was so dry & dusty. p.o.'ed the wife on the way back from Jono, she was about to vid a 'coon till i dusted that up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uudd...ature=youtu.be REALLY dry & dusty, come across this one stretch of road.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCJU...ature=youtu.be |

Re: post up your camping pics
just an awesome place to ride, pretty much all we did, & when we were'nt, we were out in the boat to escape the heat...
we rode 'bout 50 miles to where they were putting up a third set of transmission towers, beautiful place to have to work.... the wires were'nt installed on the towers beside our quads, so i climbed up it-without the cam. oh well, not supposed to be on them, & wouldn't want to get in trouble now, but it was a heck of a view from up there.... also FINALLY got the wifey to get the go-pro thing set up for me (only since last Christmas....) and i like it! made a few short vids with it, trying it different places. tried it on the crew mirror, fits great, but with my camper extension mirrors on, it forces it inwards...great footage of my front fender i foresee a lot of fun with this thing mounted it on the front of my car topper.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTIK...ature=youtu.be yeah, thats my sons big mitts all over it.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wsq3...ature=youtu.be i guess i must have a fat head too, the strap thingy for a helmet is too short, will have to get some accs. so i mounted it on my handlebars, knew it would be shaky, but oh well, first vids, now i'm learning for next time, audio is horrible too, i just turn the volume down no more one-handing it bs with the old canon in the other! on the handlebars... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MYc...ature=youtu.be and i mounted it on my rear crash bar, despite some bad vibration from my quad, i'm liking this angle! looks cool! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6XR...ature=youtu.be and the usual blah photo, heading home.... |

Re: post up your camping pics
Cool shots. I used a roll bar mount accessory to mount my gopro on the mirror post on mine. I think I've got an extra pivot and flipped it around to make it fit with the right orientation. Fit tight and not coming off on the rough stuff.
