Re: 48 panel truck
mud.man.rj, oldman3, seanery, Thank you. Where I work I do have full access to what we have. Manual and CNC lathes and mills. We all program and run our machines so basically the sky is the limit. I have made a lot of hot rod parts. The owner is always checking out what I am building. We just had a company picnic the other week and I drove the panel truck to it and he told me that he wanted to go fast, so we did. After we got back he layed on the ground looking under it for probably 10 minutes and everyone thought something was wrong with it . But no he was just checking it out and asking how I did things. He was really into it. He has a 60s P1800 volvo sports car and I keep telling he we need to put a LS motor in it.
hotrod1, That one is our middle size one. It has a 12" chuck, we have a pretty big manual lathe that has a 24" chuck on it. We have a big horizontal mill I run, it has 5' x 10' travel on it. I did some big rings on it that were 90" in diameter and had to do it in double set ups. I had at least 15,000 lbs on the table between the rings and the knees. I told the owner boy you must really trust me. And he laughed , it was a big dollar job.

nothing worse than working on new stuff, eating up any spare time to work on old stuff.

Re: 48 panel truck
oldman3, Me too, I was sweating bullets. I came up to it and could not even think to take my foot of the clutch and go for the e brake or down shift. I don't need that to happen again!
99 to Life, No doubt there. Working on the the stuff you have to drive stinks. All Sunday was blown working on it. A least everything is running again. _Ogre, Thank you. I do not know what I would do if I couldn't use the stuff. I guess I would probably be in the market for it. I do have a bench top mill at home but nothing beats a full size mill. Shannon

Re: 48 panel truck
"After that our Durango died again. I will never buy a Dodge again. After spending 3 hours checking things out I figured out that it is the transmission range sensor. Which is a dealer only item "
The drivers door auto-dimming mirror on my Suburban went bad. It was also a dealer only item and they wanted $370 just for the replacement glass. When I replaced the a/c compressor I needed a couple of washers that I also had to go to the dealer for, which cost me $20. It's that way with any brand of vehicles now so we might as well get used to it. I'm glad your brake failure turned out OK. Hqve you ever noticed that when you have a brake failure like that the vehicle seems to speed up when you push the pedal? |

Re: 48 panel truck
I know they all seem to be junk. I told my wife I was going to get ride of my truck and get another 67-72 chevy pickup. I already had a few. The problem would be you know, I would have to lower it and custom this and that! I have not ruled that out though. I love old car and trucks.

Re: 48 panel truck
Shannon... It wouldn't be yours if it wasn't lowered and customized...
I love the burb. you got me thinking of selling my tow pig, and building a Dually 454 AD burb... after the kids truck is done of course!

Re: 48 panel truck
skymangs, boy you hit the nail on the head with the lowered and customized comment. I know I would have a hard time with shoe horning 3 kids into a standard cab Unless I.......... well I better get that thought right out of my head! Haha
Nothing is too new with the panel truck , but I am still collecting parts for my 54 chevy pickup. I got a really good deal on a 8.8 ford rear. It ended up being a 3:73 with posi so I was happy with that. This weekend I have to start putting rockers and cab corners in a buddies S10 for a complete S10 frame in trade. And I already have a 1988 350 with a 700R4 tranny so that will complete the drive line. Shannon

Re: 48 panel truck
What size are the wheels/tires you are running on your truck? I ABSOLUTELY love how it sits and want to run the same combo on my panel.

Re: 48 panel truck
FRENCHBLUE72, Thank you.
oldman3, Yes we made out alright. No water in the basement this year. And the roof I put on last did not leak. The reason we did not have any problems was because this year I was ready for it. New sump pump, a generator, And I put things up in the basement! I feel for everyone who got hit, I know what it was like from last year. Shannon
