Well, let me know what your looking for and I'll keep my eyes open. Might be able to help find some stuff here on the east coast.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Going to get rid of everything that wont be used 1st. Ie...fuel, brake lines, wires. Be pressure washing, prepping and POR for next steps. Then bed assembly and frame work. Seems to be pretty straight forward of a build. Looking forward to it as its something different than my normally truck stuff.

Have you ever used POR15? Expect ours to arrive today, and was planing on painting the frame with it. Your thoughts, experiences etc...

Thanks,

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Yes, Ive used it in the past. I have been very happy with the results of the POR products. Lays down easy and looks/works great. Hardest thing as with most products is the prep work involved to get it there.

Thanks. I hope so. Looks like although its only half a truck...to do it right and make it look good will be just as much effort. But it'll be worth it.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Got all non-essential parts pulled from the back half of the trailer. Old brake lines, wiring, etc and have washed it down. Next step will be to get bolts to reconstruct the bed and the frame prep.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Another one of my long lost mystery parts found. I have been looking for a set of the OEM deluxe vents knobs with the "v" on them. They are extremely hard to find. I have looked for two years and have even been told that they didn't exist as I couldn't find any pics of them. But here they are in rough form. Cant wait to get them and clean them up. This completes my knob set. They are all now OEM knobs. Headlight, wiper, choke, throttle, radio, lighter and now vents. I realize this is probably a petty thing, but I dont care for most of the repop stuff, and none of the repop deluxe knobs looks correct. In fact, I have seen at least 3 different variations of the repop deluxe knobs.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Thanks flips72....trailer parts are starting to come in, taillights & wiring here, looking for a decent donar tailgate and will have to order a new forward bed panel. Still haven't decided if going to use wood or metal in the bed. Have the frame stripped and have started cleaning to get ready to POR. I need to replace my truck shocks also, so they will get put on the trailer. Once I have frame ready and box mocked up, I'll get it over to my dads so we can cut and weld the rest. Paint will come, but be down the road.

I have seen the knobs before, just no pictures or part #'s for reference. I have only seen 1 other truck that had them on the Stovebolt site, but cannot fid the picture. Anyways...I know its probably petty, but it's what I've been looking for.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Ok, getting closer. Engine is being picked up on Memorial Day, bellhousing is at my Dads being machined to accept the Novak hydraulic clutch conversion, 1 ton foldable engine crane has been ordered from harbor freight ...sent to the house for only $6.99 s/h. Use coupon code 83087728 untill 5/22/13 if interested...saved over $85 on in-store purchase. I will replace the chain on it per Markeb recommendation. I have the clutch/flywheel all ready to go, new bellhousing/engine bolts (went with 3/8-16 1 1/2" grade 8 and the new t-16 borg warner main case enroute. Now just have to get the main case swapped out. I have a broken mounting ear on mine. So....wont be long and the front end comes off the 63, new drivetrain installed and new front end installed. Will finally be a year for some progress. Lots of time and monies have been saved for this one. Pictures to follow.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

thanks for the compliments dan. my constent work in progress. i have most of the parts to complete the truck as i want. i had to make it functional enough to be a daily driver and i had to find alot of the missing parts, upgrade others and of coarse add a few personal touches. i am pretty much down to converting the brakes to discs(which i have the parts), swapping the new front end on (when i do engine swap), and swapping the doors...fitting the new trim. then paint and body and i should be in business. hard part is doing it all in stages to keep as a daily driver or just down a few days here and there. 2 jobs and ems work and my sisters 3yo daughter whos staying a few months. but its going one day & part at a time and always a few projects on the back burner. did you get your fuel issue resolved? hows the truck going?

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Tough building like that while using it for a daily driver, I can't take mine out of service either on account of always using it for hauling. Probably going to pull and cream my tank and keep a lookout for a better original, but there's always something that needs fixin.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Been spending alot of time getting the last of my engine projects ready. Will bring the block home next week. I have completed the parts for the hydraulic clutch conversion. Will do pics tomorrow. Will have my bellhousing back from my Dad next week w/the machine work completed. Have new clutch/flywheel, to bearing, slave, clutch master, brake master, front disc brake kit ready, plumbing for clutch and brakes. On engine I have to install pulleys, alternator, water bypass kit (which i just got done plumbing), carb/linkage, install and it should be ready. Trans has to be swapped to a new main case as it has a broken mounting ear. Anyways....here some new pics. These are of the water bypass system i have built for the Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake for the big block. Will plumb into the intake near the rear to help balance the engine temp from the back of the block to the front. The bolts are ARP stainless hex that are 2" and 3" due to the spacer. The water neck is a 1" spacer w/2 - 3/8"NPT ports. I used -08AN hose and 45deg fitting for the intake. Will mock up next week once engine is here. I know the AN fittings and stainless hose is probably overkill, but it looks great and will definitely hold the pressure. I have gotten pretty good at making these hoses, they are a real PITA until you learn the little subtle tricks that help. I use heavy masking tape on the fittings to tighten down also. The make special $80 AN wrenches, but it you use thick 1/2" masking tape w/several wraps and go slow/steady, they will tighten up w/o tearing up the anodization.

I hope you post some serious photos of this bypass install.
You really have my attention on this one as I never seen or heard of this being done before.

Otherwise it looks cool
