Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Dave,
With a steel bed floor, what does the height of the filer neck put it at in comparison with the bed floor?

I'm just trying to think about what I need to do with the bed in order to make this work.

Please let me know as soon as you can as Im trying to make a decision on this.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

I am wondering the same question, and is there a reason the filler neck is offset to one side instead of the middle?? It looks like a killer tank, I will be placing an order soon. Good Work

Chris,

I wish i had the answers for you but I really don't know as i have never personally installed one. From what other customers have told me the fill cap falls right under the bed floor and its as simple as cutting a hole in the bed directly above the filler cap.

The only reason the fill neck is offset to the driver side is so that we can use the same layout for either a 90Deg side filler or for a bed filler.

I will be more than happy to move the filler to whatever location you choose.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

I'm looking to place an order on this tank as soon as money allows. Awesome work. Anyone done a side fill with this tank? I want to do a bedside filler but haven't seen anyone do one yet. I'm thinking of just getting one of the Chrome covers from AutoZone and using it as my side door.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Just wanted to say:
I have had my EFI tank in for a few weeks now. Install went great. I did have to do a little grinding on the frame to make it fit, but I believe Dave has since modified the design to accommodate the SWB coil spring frame.
Truck isn't done, but the LT1 is running now using this tank.
I got the bed floor mount filler and I am using a chrome filler designed for a boat. The filler is placed perfectly between the 2 bed supports. Pretty simple on that part. The one problem this did create is that in order to remove/install 2 of the bed bolts I will have to drop the tank to get access to them. Not a problem since I ran my electrical and fuel lines in a way that makes dropping the tank easy.
Tank is a really nice piece, looks great and works great.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

so the price on the site plus the $106.00 for the sending unit and ROV right?

Also do these normally have return on them? I have an LSx motor but want to use my current ext pump, so I would need a -6 out and a -6 return.

Normally the price would be $106.00 to add both but i decided that i would discount those parts only when bought with the 67-72 tank so you will notice the price is now +$68.00 for the ROV and Sender. Make sure to refresh your browser and the price should be correct now.

I can make any fitting changes you need for no extra charge just let me know in the notes field in your shopping cart.

I'm bummed I missed the first one!! If you don't move until the end of Sept, it looks like 6 weeks from now - Minimum. If there's ANY way to do a GB now, I'd take a side fill EFI for my 68 LWB. October puts me WAY to close to winter to get my LT1/6spd swap done before snow might fly.

I'd much rather have one of your tanks based on this thread. Post if there's ANY chance the 8+ can persuade you to knock them out sooner. Thanks for being a board vendor!!

I Was confused on why you though that the move date was the end of sept untill i went back and looked. I had posted the wrong dates We are actively moving now and plan to move the equipment labor day weekend. I went back and edited that post.

I was planning on launching a group buy Sept 7th all along. i am just ironing out the details.

Thanks for all the support this forum has given.
