This is my DD. Been lurking for awhile. Had this truck for 2+ years. Bought from 2nd owner used as firewood truck and I went through it as I drove/use for shop truck. Drive daily @16miles each way. Specs 283, Edelbrock intake/carb, mild cam, AC (HotRod Air), PS, PB (drum), Cruise added not functioning yet. 700R trans, lokar . Transgo shift kit, 3.73 gears, 275/60X15's w/Cragars. Bed not done yet - will be raised steel. Bagged (manual) FR/RR, KYB shocks with extenders FR/RR. Still stock spindles and drum X4.

Here a few shots of my '66 Chevy K10 lwb fleetside. It has a factory 283 V8 and granny-low SM420 four speed with factory running gear. It also has 31" tires on six lug aluminum slotted rims. This is one of many in my collection of 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks. Enjoy.

Re: Post Your Ride 60-66 Trucks

Here is my '64 Long bed step that I bought a little over a month ago. It was all hand painted Red Oxide primer, so after 18 hours of sanding, I painted it satin black with a white top using the new Duplicolor Laquer paints .
The truck has a '71 LT-1 350 backed by a 700R4 tranny and is now running great after doing some maintenance to it that the previous owner did not do. I'll probably bag it soon and install air conditioning .

Re: Post Your Ride 60-66 Trucks

Does a video work?? This is the first time at the track on the motor. I think it's got an 11.9x on the motor and I have a 2 stage N20 hit coming. It's a LS1/4L80E swap and makes 410rwhp on the motor.

Heres my 66 SWB stepside. It came with a 305 with a 3 speed. Looking at puting a auto with a 327. Also looking at getting a new bed since my wife was kind enough to back into it 3 days after getting it. Oh well. Later guys.

Re: Post Your Ride 60-66 Trucks

Here is a run down:

Motor:
347ci (5.7 with a 3.905 piston vs the 3.89)
Stock crank Polished
Eagle rods
Diamond pistons
TEA heads (no longer around) 2.02 / 1.60 valves
Thunder Racing Trex cam (243/250 .610/.612 108/110)
Stock lifters
Stock rockers
Stock LS6 intake
Home ported and filled throttle body
Stock crank pulley (at the track and on the dyno, UD pulley installed now)
No MAF (speed density tune)
Edelbrock 1 3/4" stepped 1 7/8" headers with high velocity merge collectors
3" X-pipe to dual warlock mufflers (dyno the exhaust was corked. Previous head cam uncorked showed a 7rwhp gain)
Stock F-body computer using HP tuners to tune

Trans/Rear/Tire:
Stock 4L80E
Fuddle 3,200 rpm verter
12 bolt with a posi and 3.73's
BFG 275/50/15

A couple of those passes (fastest and second fastest) I touched the limiter at 7,400 rpm. The higher I spun it the faster it went. The tune on the top end is a little richer than it should be going from 12.6/7 air fuel to 11.2 af. I think it's got some more in it just leaning it from 6,200-7,400 rpm.

I would converter up if I was going to keep it all motor and only race it at the track but, the N20 should push the converter closer to 3,800-4,000 rpm.

Since the track day I have put an ASP underdrive pulley on it.

I also need to correct the pinion angle as it's not dead on.

The air filter needs to be moved as I was seeing 130* intake temps

I think a 4.56/26" tire combo would be perfect for all motor and a 30" for the bottle.

TQ management is long gone

As far as suspension I now have Hal 14.5" 350lb springs in the front with Comp 3-way adjustable shocks and 2.5" drop spindles. I had lowering springs in it and there was zero weight x-fer on the street (springs in the track video). I was cutting 2.3-2.4 60's on the street. I found the Gtech pro RR to be dead nuts at the track on 60's and the 1/4 ET read .1 slower than what I really went and 1mph slower than what I really went. Not on just 1 pass but all 11 I made Friday and Sat so I feel it is a darn good tool. With the spring swap and moving the batterey to the back, I cut three 2.0x 60's the other night on the street to a Gtech reading of 12.4@109 corked.

I pulled the front springs from a late 80's Cherokee. They are 17.5" long but the rate is too light and it sits on the bumps. I am going to give them a try with a spacer as I think they will store even more engery.

Rear is stock truck arm set up with a classic performance 2" spring (seems more like a 4" spring though) and comp 3-way shocks set to 70/30. However I am going to make a new bracket for the front mount. It will have 4 holes in it so I can raise the front of the LCA. Right now the truck squats on hook as the antisquat number is around 80% By raising the front 4.5" it will be closer to 120% A/S and the rear should actually see some seperation and hit the tires a little harder. Not sure if thats going to help or hurt on the street but I'll find out

I am planing a cam swap at some point to a LSK 236 / XER 248 106/107. It looks like I could pick up 15ftlbs at 3,200 and keep my peak power.

Feel free to ask more questions, I'm more than happy to help others out. BTW I am a moderator at both LS1tech and Performancetrucks.net So I can help advise on swap things.

Shaun

This is my 1963 C-10 "Ginger", I'll put some more photos on this weekend. I really enjoy driving her. I put the tag on by accident in tbe other shot. We can run old tags in NC, long as you keep the new one under the seat.

Re: Post Your Ride 60-66 Trucks

I had to notch a little bit of the passanger frame rai, but very little. BTW, here is an overlay of the old tune/stock pulley vs todays tuning. Both of these pulls were through the exhaust and with the converter locked.

Re: Post Your Ride 60-66 Trucks

The truck pan fits just fine, but depending on your motor height the pan will stick bellow the X-member. The truck pan is very deep as you know compared to the F-body one. I set the motor in and left about 1/2" between the front-bottom of the pan and the cross member then leveled the motor. The whole motor trans set up could probably come up and 1" maybe even 1 1/2" as the 4L80E isn't on the floor. But at that point think you'll run in to issues with the headers hitting the floor..

If I had to do it all over again, I would:

Take the sheetmetal off the front end
Put the motor/trans together and set them in
Put the headers on
Level it an raise it as much as I can
Set the tailshaft in the crossmember
straighten and level the front of the motor
Make the motor mounts.

I did it just a little different'y thinking I was going to use C5 Z06 manifolds .

You are correct.. The best pass was a 12.3x but I think it can go 11.99 once I make some changes:
Mine does that if it was dropped out of a bomber plane.
