Re: Iced Green dream

All my hoses hooked up. My distributor is getting tuned, should be back today. I need to build my battery cables, hook up some ground cables and spark plug wires and I will be ready to fire it up. I still need a weekend to do some finish wiring. I think I'm going to order a porterbuilt compressor tank mount to complete my air ride install. I have the tank behind the cab now but I'd rather have everything on the chassis if possible to make my future cab swap easier. I threw in a picture of my front ride height sensor mock up. Eventually I'll take them off and have them powder coated to match the frame. Please excuse the filthy frame. It's been sitting collecting dust for a while!

Re: Iced Green dream

Nice looking project. I am currently cutting the hole in my bed for the same gas tank you have.

My project is a long bed, and the sending unit bolt landed right in the middle of the brace, so I had to cut an opening, no big deal. I am considering a fabrication that looks like this (Foose Project):

Can you show me what you ended up with?

Thanks, Rou

Re: Iced Green dream

Rou, I like the way they did the filler opening in that picture. Mine will be similar, getting started on mine soon. Going to mold this piece into the bed floor. It will sit flush with the top of the bed floor when I'm done

Re: Iced Green dream

under dash and engine harness done. Just need to finish rear harness and some other odds and ends. The painless harness was really easy to install, great product. All the factory connections made it a simple install. Last week I ordered a porterbuilt tank/compressor bracket, should be here soon. I wanted to get the tank out of the cab. My goal is to have the bed back on this weekend so I can finish my fuel neck and get it to the alignment shop.

Re: Iced Green dream

Bed is painted. Stuck with white. I am going to have the inside sprayed with line x when I get it mobile. White seemed to be the best choice because I am painting it in pieces. After I get everything together and lined up I will have it all cut and rubbed and put the trim on.

Re: Iced Green dream

set the cowl, fenders and hood today to double check the fit before they get paint. I was really happy with how they lined up. It won't be "perfect" but it sure does pay to use original sheet metal. After a little tweaking her and there it seems to fit better than original. Off to paint should have them back in 2 weeks for final assembly.

ran across this pic from last year at the fallen heroes car show in Modesto. A patrol car was staged for photos as you came in. This is my Dad in his 49

Re: Iced Green dream

I've seen a few of these done so I decided to make one myself. I was going for a factory look. I believe someone is making them with a 3d printer now as well. A little more sweat equity to save some dough instead of buying one

Re: Iced Green dream

fenders back and made some wiring progress. Finally made an exhaust cross member and the mufflers are in for the last time. I will get rid of the dump ends and run them out the back after the truck is on the road. Column in and almost have the engine harness finished. Also had the front and rear glass put in. I need to fix about 4 leaks from plugs on my air tanks and do some more cutting on the inner opening under the dash wear the ac/heat bulkhead comes through so i can get a wrench in to tighten the fittings more. I also ordered a retro sound stereo that will compliment the dash well and Im going to make a replacement speaker mount for under the dash in the factory location that holds some good 4" speakers. Im getting more and more excited about finishing this thing
