Re: Film Guy Project Build Thread........
Checked on it last night. Another round of bed mods are almost complete. They revised the way the bed floor was raised for a 'more professional' result. The previous method was simple & effective but not the quality that a truck of this caliber deserves.
They also started doing some cab repair that wasn't noticed when the truck was in paint (older/previous paint). I intended to take some pics but my camera battery was about dead.

Re: Film Guy Project Build Thread........
I know the project has slowed slightly but they're still trying to push forward regardless. I don't think much has been done over the last couple of weeks as other projects w/immediate pay-off were a focus vs. the long term builds.

It's not a focus @ the shop right now during the holiday buzz. Maybe he'll start back up in the spring.

I needed to raise my floor just over 2" to clear my minor drop, but I didn't want to cut a hole in my new wood floor and I didn't like the looks of the most common method of a raised floor. Now,after alot of cutting and roughly 30' of welding,I have a very stock looking bed that clears everything. I can't wait to see your project finished!

My 68 had 20x10/s w/5.50"bs & stock width rear housing. FilmGuy said his wheels are 12.5" wide so with a stock width rear that would require roughly 8.0"bs. Subtract the difference for the narrowed rear (1-2" per side, he couldn't remember for sure), that puts you @ 6.00bs". The question/unknown is whether the narrowed measurement is based off of a 67-70 housing or a more likely 71-72 housing which is slightly wider.

Re: Film Guy Project Build Thread........
They were re-working the widened rear tubs on my last visit @ the shop (2-21-09). They're still moving forward . . ..... after taking one step back (seems to be a familiar pace many board projects follow).

SCOTI,
Any idea of what the width and back spacing might be on the front wheels? As always, truck looks great!

Re: Film Guy Project Build Thread........
Filmguy or Scoti,
Is the rear running drop blocks? I read that it has kp notch, cpp trailing arms, and ece crossmember. The stance looks damn perfect! |

Re: Film Guy Project Build Thread........
Yes, the rear is using the CPP alum lowering blocks (1.5" I believe). It also has the KP step-notch & CPP arms/crossmember. My last trip out (2-weeks now), they were just about done on the 'new' rear tubs. I should be visiting them soon.....

Scoti,
Can you confirm that 1.5" drop? Also, next time you are down by the truck, pictures never hurt |

I was going to ask the guys about it but they were busy assembling the interior on a Rambler wagon that is scheduled to debut @ Good-Guys Delmar. Maybe next time I'm out there I can find out for sure. If you need the info sooner, try sending a PM to the owner (board member Film Guy).

Re: Film Guy Project Build Thread........
Your truck certainly is one of the nicest. You must spend many sleepless nights pre planning your project. You would be a tough opponent in a chess match. Good luck with the rest of your build. You have nicely exploited the true styling image of the C-10.

Re: Film Guy Project Build Thread........
Great build my friend.
Just to let you know that if u are using a fat man fab front end,u might bust your shockwaves.it looks like your front end is very similar to mine, thus, thats what just happen to me.the waves rub on the bracket that holds them in place and over time they will bust.i just installed new ones and b4 i did that,i trimmed those brackets off 1.5 in on each side(4cuts). If u have any questions let me know.7045268447 by the way,one bag busted while at red lite,so i was very lucky;that light was on the ramp b4 getting on the freeway here in charlotte. |

Re: Film Guy Project Build Thread........
The cross member has been modified (moved up) and all the associated brackets have been "tweaked" to correct the rubbing. But you are right, they will rub if your not careful. Good info to share!

Re: Film Guy Project Build Thread........
Hi Guys,
I'm back. I know it's been a while. Sorry about my absence. I had some personal issues to resolve before I could bring any attention to my project. I dodged a bullet. I should rephrase that, I dodged a cannon ball. I went through a divorce. I'm not going to sit here and write a bunch of bad things about my x. We shared a lot of good times together. But in the end she threatened to take my project away. It didn't work! I got to keep it. There has been some progress though. I will snap a few pics and post them soon. |
