much later than i was hoping, but better late then never...went & snatched the camper out of the boss'es barn (25 anniv. this month kinda pre-empted getting plates on the crew...)
seems like i have to jack the darn thing higher every yr.... 56" to the bed floor, i'm 5' 10" & have to stand on my tippie toes to swing the jack handle all the way threw it's arc... oh for the love of....dawg! the big idjit went for a romp in the swamp beside the barn. aint riding home in the crewcab..... oh yeah! good to have it back home... |

Re: post up your camping pics
i like your wife! wish my wife rode a bike. i "downgraded" my KX to a quad (blah!) just so we could actually ride as a family (dont ask, riding a big bore 2 stroke with your family on quads is like trying to drive a top fueler in rush hour...) sigh.... i miss my bike
and it's just the angle of the pic's, she's my 4 ton honey, 3+3 crew. are you kidding? sitting in a reg cab with my family??.... on my holidays??? |

Re: post up your camping pics
started a new job, and that pushed all our holidays back a couple months....
so i dropped the camper & went riding up the Coquihalla yesterday. i mention the hiway quite a bit in my posts, it's the star attraction of the tv show Highway to Hell, in 30 yrs this highway has claimed thousands of vehicles, majority of them on a section called "the smasher". it's a 4-6% grade for 10-12 miles, then goes up to 8-10% on the smasher for another couple miles. it's a hard pull up the hill if your heavy, overheated & on fire vehicles are common, and in the winter, thats were it gets it's reputation. if your going faster than 30-40 in the winter on this hill, your done for. of course everyone knows suv's & 4x4's can go threw anything.... made a short vid of going up & down the smasher. check out the jersey rail, beat all to heck, knocked out of whack, new ones replaced everywhere....going down is a better perspective of the hill. yeah, there's bigger & longer ones around, but the Coke has had it's fair share & then some, of carnage.... made these with the cheap 49 buck dash cam wife got. and ya, everyone is passing me, with 4:56's i cruise at 55-56 starts at the Box canyon chain up area https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtZwzO6plM0 going down https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uwvCH2FOOk never get tired of coming up here, it's like therapy... went to Coldwater creek area |

Re: post up your camping pics
should have known, son asked me the other day where the camera bag was, did'nt think nothing of it. batteries in the cam died at Alpaca, NO spares, jeezus that kid, one of the more scenic area's on the coke & i got a dead cam
found out he needed them for his xbox controller (sigh, slap me in the head....) well i had some in the glove box, but not doing me any good when there 30 miles away... so when i got back i took dawg & went for a cruise down this old stream bed send dawg in first, check the depth |

Re: post up your camping pics
Great video's Diesel! Looked like a great day to be on the road! I've only driven the Coke once, in the late eighties before the connector was finished. I reeeeally need to get back to BC! I'm dyin over here, helped one of the neighbour boys buy a ticket into Calgery last week, he's got a girl from Picture Butte he gonna visit.... got some other friends left Osoyoos the other day heading for Prudhoe Bay, and just got off the phone with my daughter in Switzerland. Got to work more, save more!
Enjoy your summer.

Re: post up your camping pics
it was nice back in the eighties Billhilly! not nearly as much traffic!
i think the hiway has been kinda two-edged. it used to be a very quiet & remote area before the hiway, now anybody can get to a lot more places, now it's like 15 minutes to get where you want to tear up your truck. before it was like tear your truck up for 2 days to get to where you want to tear the rest of it up.....it's opened up a lot of access. if you get the chance when you get over here, you need to drive the "Whipsaw" it's one of the better & very scenic trails around here, it's our version of the Rubicon, it made some 4by mag (4 wheeler?) top ten in N America trails. the connector is long done, it is one of the other 2 insanely long hard pulls on the Coke. leaving Merritt is like 15-20 kms of 4-8% grade & coming down the other side (Westbank) is like about a 25 km downhill run....just a big hill to get up & over, but very scenic at the top. like the Coke, get a 4by & get off the highway, some incredible back country. and if your going to Kamloops from Merritt, ya got another nice 20k or so hill.... try to drive this, have'nt been down it since i had my K5, 'fraid the crew might be too big to run it.... https://www.google.ca/search?q=whips...UIBigB&dpr=1.1 |

Re: post up your camping pics
Log creek is quad or bike only, parked near the bottom
there was a side channel off log creek that had 5 beaver dams on it and of course dawg has to go see if he can find a beaver... no luck, so he started pulling logs out of his dam |
