Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Yeah, his stuff is good. Very soulful.
Here is a song I hadn't thought of, or heard, for a long long time. I guess I was in 9th grade when it came out. It was on the AM radio all the time. Then gone, like so many songs. 1970 This was later in Bryan Hyland's career. He began recording ten or so years earlier when he recorded a lot of hits, like... 1962 A real risque song right here. I shudder to think! 1960 He real knows how to thrill the women, ey?

I have my own version of that about replacing all of Capitol Hill with blue collars, but that's all I can say here.

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
I'm hit and miss country. Some, primarily old stuff is nice. It's easy to appreciate the lifestyle too.
This tune always reminds me of the 71 Cadillac my step-father often lent me. It was generally in the cassette deck. He was a tuff old cowboy. My friends hated him until they got to know him, which was more in-line with respect. How my mother ended up with a Cowboy is beyond me, but okay. He had a nice piece of property on the river, a boarding ranch, which suited me fine. Something about bailing hay and breaking troughs in a 56 Chevy flatbed over 70 acres in a dead winter morning will change you, dog recommended. Picture what that Chevy looked like, same everything. 1st gear gets you about 1.5 MPH. It was awesome in the snow.

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
My first live concert was Charlie Rich about 1975 or 1976. My dad took me and I remember Charlie playing the piano and singing. My dad's influence got me an eternal affinity for Creedence Clearwater Revival, Don Williams, the Eagles, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and a ton of other artists from the 1970's.
I don't know where or when I started listening to Motown music but I love so much of it. For a blend of musical talents it doesn't get much better than this: Haven't seen these guys mentioned but man they had some hits:

Oh man, ELO made it here, love their music. Here are a few of my all time favorites. First piece is off Brothers in Arms, which in my mind the album is a masterpiece, not because of the "hits". Sorry about Barbara man

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
My musical taste can run all over the map. Here is one of my favorites from his release "Warm Your Heart". That whole CD/album whatever you want to call it is great. Aaron Neville is a favorite of mine and one the wife and I can listen to together.
For a much more blues feel I like Delbert McClinton as well. My wife and I's first date was him in concert. And to give a shout out to a great Florida based band, a little Molly Hatchet. Had a denim jacket with their The Deed Is Done album cover on the back until someone stole it out of my jeep.

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
I like all of that music, too. I guess you could figure out I am open to good music of all sorts. The less pop the better. I liked Molly Hatchet coming along keeping the southern rock thing going, which is my favorite rock, just as it seemed to be fading out.
Since Ray Wylie Hubbard made mention of Tony Joe White... Fun song A bit of his story

Sorry guys, I work from home so I get to pick the music in the background every day.
Here are two greats that are now sadly gone from us: Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jeff Healy: And one from some guys in my hometown. Yeah, I know these guys and this one gets to me every time:

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
I guess I can do some jumping around the spectrum myself. In another thread the topic of John Denver's geographic knowledge came up and it led me to YouTube to his Country Roads song. Nice song he did, but I want you all to hear The Petersons do it
Nice version of Dolly's Jolene as well Might as well stick Landslide in here

Steve Winwood has had an amazing musical career. Here's an excellent solo acoustic version of "Can't find my way home"

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
The title of this Jesse Winchester song came to mind while posting a reply in another thread
A favorite of mine Nudder. I like every song on this album (1970). I've been known to have this one slipped into the CD changer at a particular type of entertainment establishment I was once known to patronize upon occasion Aw heck. I'll just add one more to leave this post mellowed out. That Jesse wrote some mighty fine music

So much talent in this video even though it was shot after Roy was already gone. So sad much of it is gone but their work lives on:
Just to prove my musical taste is so varied to be schizophrenic: When I get my truck on the road you can expect to hear this one coming out the window as I roll by:

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Forgive me for any repeats, I'm not the range of some and the memory is no good First time I branched out to great rock n roll was visiting my sweet uncle in SF. He was a real character, lived a full one. Anyway, two songs I remember that visit, in his car, a little Honda Civic. This is one. Fun on the drums, I've never quite nailed it, but then I don't practice tunes, I'd rather play the next one The other tune was After Midnight by Clapton. Just looked, the year was 1976, but both tunes were released 1970.
Came across this video yesterday, it's the only one I could find for Chick Webb, the video is his band. He's quite a story, and in some opinions he was the best or one on percussion. Cool video, but you don't see Chick until the 7:46 mark. Dude only stood 4.1" and was a hunchback. If you look closely he's fluttering over the snare effortlessly Few other all-time favorites:

Here is some more Jesse. 1970. The same year the Beatles went out. Never thought about that. Jesse has a way of making you listen to his words

Here is a great band you don't hear much anymore and is one of the most tragic rip off stories in music:
If you don't start grooving when you hear this tune you might want to check your pulse:
