Hi Stepside Jim. That picture is a 3D stereogram. Just stare at the center of the picture and it will eventually come into focus. It takes awhile to see but its there.

Good one Clarance J, I totally forgot about those pictures, I remember they had one on a Seinfeld episode back in the 90's.

O.K. The cart is as done as its going to get. It's painted to match the truck. Yep, thats a custom Rustoleum fade away job. Now I can start back on my truck. Just gotta wait for the paint to dry. Maybe some little Cragers someday. No more cart pictures.

Thanks Kim57. I'm trying to gather information and start planning for things that I can do and have ready for the warmer weather when it shows up. I have some scrap metal that I can fab the bed rails from, just need the height, ect. Just the front rail. I can figure the rest out. Right now I have a 2by4 holding up the front of the bed.

Google was good to me. Found what I needed to know. Now back to work on the heater and wiper motor. A couple more nice inside jobs.

Well I had a YAHOO day today. I did some work on my wiper motor and actually got it to run. I had taken it apart years ago, looked at it and said I'll play with this later and put it in a zip lock bag. I started thinking about it again when I saw RockinKees doing his wiper system. It needed a new power wire so that got soldered in, lubed the slide and got it to move. Had to go to the hardware store to replace the screws that I had lost, put some new grease in it and put it back together. And it ran. A big success for me.

The hard part was figuring out how to hold the brushes apart so the motor could be put back together. I finally decided to drill 2 small holes in the end of the motor and used needles to keep the brushes in place. It worked. Working on the heater next.
Also have a vacuum wiper motor as a back up if I couldn't get the electric one fixed. I just love the way those old things sound when they are put to work. I used a stethoscope to listen to the electric motor and didn't hear any abnormal hissing or grinding. So we'll see.

Nice save on the wiper motor! When the cam hits the lever, what does the lever disengage? Contact with the worm gear?

Thanks Kim57. It had me going for awhile.

You know Advanced Design, I'm really not sure. Now I'm curious. That means that it has to come apart again. I know that the lever goes from one compartment through to the other side and changes the speed through a set of points and resistor but what gets engaged or disengaged I don't have a clue. But tomorrow I will know.

This is the motor that I thought was no good. Picture was taken over 6 years ago.

And I did find that part that I thought I lost.

OK, there are corrections to be made on the wiper motor. I did a little more investigation on the guts of the motor mechanics and found myself wrong on a few things. I could still be wrong but I know more now than when I started this project.

Now on to the electrical switch part of the motor. I found out today when I tested it again that the motor would not stop. Heck, its only 60 years old. Why should it give me any problems? Like anything that is old it needed a little help going back over center. So now it starts and runs in both Hi/low speeds and shuts off. Today was another good day.

Today was Super Bowl sunday. Good day to work some more on Clarance J.
I've been wanting to move the battery off the fire wall and put it under the cab but I didn't like the idea of having to lay on the ground to check it etc. I decided the best place for it in my case was in front of the cab mount on passenger side. Normally this would not be a good location. Since it has the tilt front sheet metal I can get to it very easily. Started building the battery box today so it will slide forward and tilt out for easy access.

Thats all that I got done for today. I should have it finished in the next couple of days and ready to install. So more pictures will be posted later. Should work out good.

Thanks Advanced Design and Kim57. Another slow but busy day. Didn't get as much done as I wanted to but that's OK. I did go to the hardware store to get the nylon washers needed to act as spacers between the tray and the frame. Back on it tomorrow. I want to get this done this week so I can start back on the front body work. As usual more pictures as work is completed.

Put in a couple of more hours today and tacked the other side together. Also drilled and cut the tilt slot in the part. I'm am going to have to start thinking how the cover is going to be made. Also I still need to figure out how it will be mounted to the chassis. The funs not over yet. Just another excuse to get out to the shop. Oh darn.

Thank you for that Stepside Jim. I cheated and used my Dremal to help clean up the slots. So far I'm $1.16 into this project. 4 nylon washers. Haven't even added the fun factor in yet.
