The p/s belt arrangement in that pic is similar to mine, except I don't have a/c and the 2nd belt goes around the alternator, balancer, and water pump. I have run it that way since last fall with no issues.

I don't see a problem with the setup. 3 pulleys joined around the common pulleys on the harmonic balancer, all the same circumference = same speed. Ya you get the glancing touch of unrelated components belts but they are moving at the same rate of speed. Thats a busy engine compartment.

That's why I use a steel can type Fram GF-11. I had a plastic gas filter that melted thru when I had a carb fire on a 454 once. Electric fuel pump kept going after the engine stalled, since I had scoffed at the need for the safety switch that worked on positive oil pressure. I was lucky to walk away from that.
The glass ones like in the pic have another issue: the plastic filter medium is affected by the ethanol/alcohol additives present in most commercial gas. It swells -- causing a restriction.
So I prefer a steel can with a paper filter medium.
I use about the same placement as you have, but my fuel filter is about 4" higher than the manifold and stays cool enough there.

Yep! I'm pretty handy with the ole spray bomb! Thanks. And what I did was scrub the thing down three times. Twice with purple power, and once with simple green. Took it all apart, at least down to the basic engine. plug all the holes and then blasted it with brake parts cleaner to remove any leftover oil or grease. Sanded it with some 400 grit sandpaper and then wiped that off with a clean rag and laquer thinner. Then primed, painted, and clear coated with Duplicolor engine enamels. Oh! Lol! Don't forget to tape off, and cover with paper your firewall and inner fenders, and anything else you don't want to get overspray on before you paint! Yes, I even taped off my oil filter and starter. Then, clean and paint your other things brackets, pulleys, fan, and whatever else you want seperately. As far as tips, I used a foam nerf ball cut and used as corks for different holes. And take your time! Well that's how, now let's see your outcome!

Darn, I JUST bought the thing! Guess I'll use it for now, see how it does until I figure out what I want to put in it's place. Also gotta get it running good, and fix an exhaust leak. Thanks for the heads up guys. Not driving it a lot yet until I get these loose ends tied up so it'll do for now. any pics of better fuel filter that would fit in that spot?

Slick -- the FRAM GF-11 is a simple steel canister type fuel filter, 1-7/8" diameter x 4" long, with 3/8ths barbed ends for fuel hose connection. Should be easy to find at any autoparts store. Not married to the Fram line, anymore either. I used to buy them when they were USA made. I found no drop in quality when they started being made in Israel, but now the new ones are made in China, and I will be looking for a different brand. Next time I change fuel filters, in about 10,000 miles.

Yeah I know what your talking about now. I would like something a little nicer looking though. Maybe I don't need it though. I'm running an electric fuel pump with a inline filter before it, and the carb has a filter in it. What do you think?

If the lines have been replaced and the tank has been thoroughly cleaned or replaced, you should be good with the 2 filters you already have.

Well actually, I do run one of those glass filters but with an old school perforated micarta element in it just before the [mech] fuel pump. My 500 CFM Edelbrock 1404 [AFB clone] has no internal filter, so I like the GF-11, just before the carb. Also the Fram type is 4"x 1.5" but the internal filter is about 3/4" x 1/2". Bigger is better when catching FOD.
Jegs and Summit have a selection of racing high flow fuel filters, billet milled body and replaceable element. May be what you're looking for.

Hey guys! Wanted to know if anyone has a pic of a 69 up 250 with th350 kickdown cable hookup. Mine's been cutoff and trying to find a cable that'll work and where to hook it up on the throttle linkage. Any input or pics would be very helpful. Wanted to stary here for you straight six guru's! Here's a couple pics of my setup.......

Has anyine ever considered a late-model GM 4.2L, Atlas LL8, straight-six swap into our trucks? it seems like the natural step into the modern straight-six world. yeah, yeah, V-8 cheaper, V-8 better, LS1-this, LS2-that, blah, blah, blah.... Some of us actually like the sixes. I have no pictures to post of my 250 in my 68, but it has the super cool 6-into-2 header on it, which makes it sound like a Hi-Po small-black at idle. I also have a 250 out of a 66 GMC which will be my builder for my truck. Why be a sheeple with a V-8?

George: You might try www.inliners.org for more info on L6 4200 swaps. Big hurdle for us old timers is that new-fangled computer stuff. I mean if you're cruisin' out by Roswell and some low flier buzzes anywhere near you, it degausses the E/Prom and you're stuck waiting for a tow.

I'm just bummed GM didn't make a 4800 L6 [292].

68OrangeSunsghine, I fully agree! That is why I bought my 68 and am still running the points distributor. I think the L6 4200 would be a pretty cool swap, to see someone else do. I'm just tired of the same old six-bashing some guys do. There is a guy that comes out to our cruise night with a beautiful 64 Chevy 2-door post, with a nice 6 in it. When I talked to him about the 6 he didn;t have anything nice to say, I was a little sad, but it's his car let him mess it up if he wants to.

Radiator/Heater hoses
Etc.

My son requested the six remain in the truck and that we restore it close to original. Just cleaned up wiring, went to HEI, Power brakes and steering. Truck now has factory gauges, and plumbed with the copper tubing.

Blank Slate is sweet. Has a 68 short fleet that same color. Dated my wife in it 24 years ago. We traded it for a 86 Grand National in 88. Good times.
