Here are the inner door panels and the dash pad installed. Still need to install the inner door handles but here are some pictures.

Re: My Oldest Sons Frankentruck Project
I like the way he did the curves in the door panels makes it look real nice, gives it that extra pizazz. Keep it up bro almost there...then you can start the next project. Can't wait to see what you do with the SWB

Re: My Oldest Sons Frankentruck Project
Did the rig come with shoulder harnesses on the seatbelts or did you install those? I'm looking to install some on my 68, but haven't cut any metal yet.

The mounting bolts were there in the upper part of the back pillars on the cab we used for this resto. On my Sons 64 we had to drill a hole and put the mounting braket in on the back side of the pillar. Its nice to know someone with long skinny arms if you have to do that because getting that mounting bracket up inside that enclosed pillar is a PITA!!!! (PAIN IN THE A__). Anyway we just used the set that was in the truck when I bought it from Frizzle Fry. The only thing I had to do was have the short end of the buckles where the shoulder harness attaches to in the middle of the seat made to fit a Bench Seat because they were for a bucket seat and were enclosed in a hard plastic stiffner for use with the bucket seats. I am going to use the bucket for the 67 ShortWide that I am about to restore. JRBECK64 |

Re: My Oldest Sons Frankentruck Project
Hi JRBECK64, Man that is a great looking truck. What size tires are on the it and what wheel size. Do you have stock springs. That is the look I want my 67 long step to look like. Iam thinking about bringen the front up level with the back.(about 2" up)

Re: My Oldest Sons Frankentruck Project
Beautiful rig! I miss my old 71 Chevy Fleetside so bad. My Dad rolled it 7 times through 150 feet of fence line coming home from work a few years ago. Caved in the cab into a V right above the steering wheel and broke the seat belt. Walked away without a scratch.

I had a set of Yokohama 285/75-16s that I was running on my 2004 2500HD and they had about 30K miles on them when I found out that I needed to drive to Michigan in the middle of the winter. They still had a lot of tread on them so I kept them when I bought the new set for the 2500HD. So that is how these tires ended up on my Sons Truck. The truck is completely Stock with no lift at all. I have turned the tires both directions with no rubbing. I have to tell you when I put them on there I thought for sure I was going to have to lift the front end but I didn't. I have to tell you that this truck really drives nice and is very stable going down the road. Its so nice that I almost want to tell my son that I will do the 67 Shortwide for him and keep this truck for myself. I guess its a little late for that. Anyway Thanks for the compliment on the truck. JRBECK64 |

Re: My Oldest Sons Frankentruck Project
So have you concluded negotiations with the finance advisor and are you ready to move on to production of the 67 Short Wide? Inquiring minds want to know.... Remember... "I am your biggest fan." LoL...

Ive had a slight setback you might say. I thought I was done with this Project until I found a severe Oil Leak in the front of the engine around the Timing Chain cover. I guess that is what I get for having a Chrome Timing Chain Cover. I am putting on a stock one and it should be all put together before the end of the day. I will Start a New Build Thread and post some pictures tonight of the 67 short fleet. I will post some pictures of the work we are doing on this one as well. JRBECK64 |

Re: My Oldest Sons Frankentruck Project
So Far its not leaking, But I need to drive it a bit to see if its good. Dont want to take it out until tomorrow so Hopefully it wont leak after I drive it a bit. I let it run for about 10 Minutes with no leaks so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully it will go home with my Son this Friday.

Re: My Oldest Sons Frankentruck Project
Here are a few pictures in closing this build. My Mom and Dad are in town and I thought it would be great to get them in the pictures with my sons between their trucks. I want to thank all of you for your support and help through this restoration. I am currently building a 67 ShortWide Pickup and I started a new post called (67 ShortWide Resto) so if your interested check it out.

Re: My Oldest Sons Frankentruck Project
Thanks,
Your 56 Is really motivating me. I have a 56 BigWindow Short Step that Is going to be my truck and I am thinking about putting a 5.3 in it with a 4L80 behind that. I already have a Ford 9 to go in the back and will probably put in a 4 Link with air bags. I like the color you used also, is that Arrival Blue? JRBECK64 |
