Last thing that I got done was my hood. Perfecting inner/outer bedside panels are next. But won't be until late June at the earliest. I still have one more week of school to teach, then off to Disneyland for a week!

Thanks! Yes, I had a blast this summer. A part of me wishes it was longer, but now that I am completely busy, maybe I can find some time to work on the truck. Funny how that works.

Re: 1970 Chevy Longhorn Restoration progress

Hey all been watching this forum for a while and finally at the point to start restoring my '72 Chevy C20 Custom Camper Long Horn with stock 402 big block heater only truck. I have run into a bit of a snafu... About 2 years ago a former buddy of mine swapped the beds on my truck when I was out of town. Turns out he sold my 72 bed with the cargo box on the passenger side and the factory second gas tank on the driver side with fill spout right next to the one for the tank behind the seat. As you can imagine Im quite upset over this and Im trying to track down another 72 long horn bed... Any suggestions or hints to point me in the right direction?

Thanks all...

You can keep an eye out on the Parts for Sale section for what you need--either convert your existing bed into a toolbox bed, or purchase another factory toolbox bed. The first option will require some descent welding skills, the later option just means that you may have to travel a good distance with a trailer to pick up another bed. Keeping an eye out on the parts board may, or may not be fruitful. It really depends on luck and timing. Whether someone is offering all of the parts that you need for the conversion, and if you see the for sale ad before someone else snags it.

You can, however, post a Want to Buy (WTB) thread. You will have to be a subscribing member. You can view the Available Memberships Here. What you would need is the Premium membership. You can purchase a one year membership for $25, or a 6 month membership for $15. You should have much better luck finding what you need by posting a WTB thread.

Good luck!

Richard

Thanks!

It really kills me not having time to work on the old girl. I am still shopping for parts for her though. I had sold some parts that I didn't think I'd be using, only to re-purchase them again. So, I recently got another set of front tow hooks, NOS Ventshades, and NOS door edge gaurds. I also found another NOS inside rearview mirror mounting bracket set, which is nice because it came with an NOS black cover, and screws. My last recent purchase for the truck was an NOS set of door handle gaskets. I nearly paid for the gaskets what I paid for my NOS handles. I guess it evened out in the end. Now that the weather seems to be changing...getting cooler in the evenings, I MUST get back to work on it.

Sort of. That one ended at around $121. Upnorthparts also listed one with a Buy It Now of $110. I snagged that one. He has another one for sale at that price. Makes me wonder how many sets he has...

Thanks! Teaching is definately taking away any extra time that I have. Even though school ends at 2:30, I never get out any earlier than 5:00. I go home, make dinner, feed the family, put my little boy to bed, and then spend another 3 hours each evening planning, making power points, and grading papers. One of my weekend days is purely devoted to school (8hrs or so) and the other day is left to tackle to house work and shopping for the week. Time is definitely limited. Not to mention that my wife and I are expecting another one in about 7 months...it's not going to get any better for a while. So, the abriged version is that all I have time for right now is buying, not building. But I will try to fit some time in before winter hits full on.
