ok, I think I made a mistake by putting a "13" on , I believe it may be making it harder to turn with.

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style
N2billet, post a pic of Ken's truck doing a burnout. That will give you something to do instead of just trying to get motivated. Just kidding Ken if you are reading this. Looking good, if I ever finish my 2wd Blazer my girlfriend is going to buy me a 67-72 truck to drive everyday when I am off of work since I have a demo and she drives my crew cab 4wd Powersmoke. I will not be able to drive the Blazer very much since I am going to make it a roadster.

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style
Oh, I’m still motivated I just don’t have the time to work on it this month due to my job running me all over the place. But, don’t get me wrong I’m grateful to have a job so I’m keeping my mouth shut. Here’s a picture of Ken’s truck as it sits today, patiently waiting for it’s owner to retrieve him and take him home, sad if you really think about it.

What a shame, you guys two of the nicest cleanest trucks. I would be out putting some miles on that thing and driving the tires off of them. Good luck with the truck. My Blazer is not getting done as well thanks to 70-80 work weeks. What has this world come too? I feel your pain brother.

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style
You guys need to understand what it means when Keith says he is working a lot on the job. His "normal" schedule is what the average person would consider a hectic week.
Not only does he almost always put in way more than 40 hours on the job, he usually puts in another 20-30 at the shop. Somehow he manages to squeeze in projects at the house, working on wife, daughter, sons cars, and staying active on Ebay and 67-72chevytrucks.com. On top of all that, he is now in "project mode" at work which means his work time has almost doubled and he still manages to keep up with everything else. I am impressed with what he gets done in the time that he has..... Trust me, I reall want to go get my truck and bring it home. I just have to find a few hours to go get it...

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style
Going to the Nascar races in April, I will give you a lift on the way Ken. I know what you mean about hours, I have been working 70-80 hours a week, trying to get my 2000 corvette conv. done on Wed. when I get home from out of town and on weekends and still try to keep the girlfriend happy and now her daughter just started baseball so trying to do that too. On top of that we are digging a new pit at work to add another Blowtherm downdraft booth and a new car-o-liner frame machine showed up today and juggling ins. companines and customers and empolyees!!! How do we do it? Good luck with the project you guys. I want to see your trucks when you guys are done.

Where did you get all your cool aluminum finned stuff on the engine?
I showed this post to a guy at work who is working on a Nova with a 6 banger and he loves your work! He was very impressed and had to know where to get that stuff. Very nice work! Ben

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style
I got a freakin run on the timing cover . I'll have to sand it out tomorrow & shoot it again. Oh well.... it least it's progress. The master cyl brackets turned out decent & they're mounted back on the firewall.

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style
OK, I didn't get much done this week but I did get a break from the keyboard so I finally got my booster brackets out of the way. I'll make them pretty later.... I also painted and installed my license plate box but I have to draw the line somewhere after all I have my pride to think about

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style
I got a little bit done on the truck today so I'll bore all of ya'll yet again. I got the brake booster, brackets and new power steering pump all painted today, I didn't take any pictures because I ran the crap out of the booster and was to pi$$ed off at myself to walk back into the booth to take any pictures....
I started modifying the bed to get another inch to inch and half out of the outside lip to clear the tires when I air the truck all the way out. I'll try to explain what I'm doing. The inside lip-metal that attaches to the wheel tub and inner bed structure angles to the inside. (does this make any sense?) Anyway I cut this metal out (picture) and I'm bending the lip back (straight up) and cutting back the top lip. I'm making a piece that runs straight up and then over to the inner bed structure. This set up will get me right at an 1 1/2 inches of more clearance to the outside lip. As I move forward I will take more pictures....Then you will understand that I totally lost my mind Last edited by n2billet; 10-29-2006 at 10:27 PM. |
