Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
few more pics, I am quite pleased with myself as I never thought that I would go anywhere near this far on this when I bought this truck. I owe this to all of you guys. I have learned an incredible amount from looking in on all of your builds. The other thing that has been an amazing help to me is the ability to post up questions. The amazing thing about this is that when I have posted questions, I get responses from so many 60-66'ers, but I also have had responses from other "age" groups. I am eternally grateful to have happened on this forum, and eternally grateful for all of the help and inspiration I have received here.
Ok, enough of that nonsense, time for some fine ales!!!!!!

Really dig the "cab lifter cart".
I use an A-frame style and its a pain. Come-a-longs, chains, etc. I just may copy.....NO... Im makin me one now. Nice to see your making progress. |

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Hi CRGRS 66, don't know if you got your power brake mounting issue figured out. Here is an adapter that uses the stock bolt holes. They sell them on eBay I'm going to just make my own. Really simple plate. My 66 is going to go thru the frame off next fall. Going to drive it this spring/summer just picked it up a month ago. Put this number in eBay search. 330858926129

Could you shoot some pics of your cab lifter please?
Like Bomp, I would enjoy seeing how you made that.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Back at it today. Removed all of the clips and bits and fasteners from the frame, removed the cross member furthest back (I may try to mount my trailer hitch there, if not will bolt cross member back in), removed the brake lines, trac bar stud, emerg cables etc. from diff, drilled the holes for captain fabs PS bracket, drilled the holes in the trailing arms for the sway bar mounting brackets (had marked their location last weekend when mocking up the rear susp), and did some tidying up. I believe that there is workbench in my garage, hopefully when I put all of my tools away tomorrow I will find it
Frame, diff, trailing arms ready to go to the blaster now, but I won't take them until I have the cab floor, firewall, and underside cleaned and painted.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
craigger, glad to see that your getting some work done on your truck! it always snowballs when you want to upgrade something or clean something, you start thinking to yourself that you can clean and paint that part since you got those parts off and so on and so on, lol!!

I have figured out what I want to do for my trailer hitch. I am going to turn my bumper upside down, and relocate my receiver higher. I am also going to grab one of those flip up tag brackets to hide the receiver. Should look pretty slick, and will also be a very simple mod. Not crazy about the receiver hanging down so low, rather unsightly actually!

Looking good on the progress. Even though it doesn't have lifting capabilities its still a cool cart.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
St. Armand Circle, Sarasota FLA, it is actually died with beer! There was a "will sell husband fir wine" one there that my wife wanted... I told her she couldn't have it
You appear to be new, welcome, and thanks for posting! Thanks Rich, I saw that in a thread, cool idea! Wasn't that the one pulling the boat that had a V8 and zoomies?

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
have been working away at cleaning up the firewall inside and out as well as the cab floor. Someone did some welding (pretty ugly welding, but who am I to say), and there will need to be some fixes done. I have a welder/buddy coming to have a look one night next week. Here is the hole that the PO cut in the floor for the shifter as well... I actually cleaned it up a little bit, yes it was worse than this. Once it is welded up, and I figure out where the new hole needs to go I will cut it with the minimum diameter hole saw necessary.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
Question, is this trim piece glued on?
I have a new chrome one that I bought a while back, but don't want to cause any damage to the door removing the old one.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread
tattoo Don (Ta2don) would like my glove box emblem, so I could really use a little advice on getting it off without causing damage to the emblem, or the door...
