Re: How many 2 wheel drive blazers do we have?

i have one that was left under a carport for 20 years in orange county california. i have never seen an unrestored blazer with less rust. mine is a 1970 complete with the 6 lug drums in the front. im repairing her slowly, eventually it will be a complete frame off restoration. im installing a new 700r4 transmission i just built this weekend to save my 385 sbc that im running now. heres some pics

Re: How many 2 wheel drive blazers do we have?

well I am about to acquire my dad's 72 blazer 2wd tilt, tach, a/c. we'll see. it has been in a body shop for the last 7 years because my dad paid up front and the guy screwed him over. now he doesn't want to spend the money on it.

Post some pics of it when you get a chance. Sounds like the dream truck for the 2wd guys. What are your plans for it?

The rims are 20x8 all the way around I just put a bigger tire in the rear..I am not sure on the backspacing, I narrowed the rear end.

I was just curious why you did the 6 lug conversion? did you use a late model rearend with disc brakes or something?

Re: How many 2 wheel drive blazers do we have?

Yeahhttp://www.porterbuiltstreetrods.com narrowed the rearend out of a 2001 Chevrolet truck so it has the disc brakes and 3:73 posi..I think there are more rim choices with 6 lug since all the new gm trucks are 6 lug....

thats always been my plan. mine was a 250 cu inch l6/3 on the tree. i cant seem to locate that combo near los angeles to reinstall it. I know near every truck that was a three speed/ straight 6 has been converted to a small block/ auto trans. Everyone i knew in high school had an old l6 in the back of the garage. when i do find them i already have all the parts i need to make the engine compartment look like it did at the dealership in 1970. im looking forward to popping the hood at the pomona swap meet with my truck set up like that, i've never seen one.
i will store my original front parts, i just got her going with front 6 lug disc brakes, and a 700r4 i just got the bugs out of last night. my daily driver is back

Re: How many 2 wheel drive blazers do we have?

Here’s my ’70. I took a bunch of photos with a friends crappy camera. Most are toast but a few made the cut. I will hopefully be getting a digital camera this weekend, so better pics are underway…….The sock is wrapped around the swing out’s top bracket to keep it from poking a hole in the car cover….redneck style…..

Re: How many 2 wheel drive blazers do we have?

Hotrodhomi,

It is an all original v-8 model, so I will be fixing it up bone stock, except for the motor/tranny. It came with a 307/3 on the tree, but will be converted to a 350/350 combo. I want to go with overdrive, but I decided for the time being not to. The custom look is fine, but I prefer stock vehicles. And I have yet to see an all original '70 2 wheeler, let alone one with a dealer installed swing out rear tire carrier and black top. It will be great to see it when it is done.........

Thumbs up Re: How many 2 wheel drive blazers do we have?

awesome, like i already posted customizing should be left to crappy trucks like s-10's or nissans. i don't think an original stock blazer can be improved.

nice truck slimjim, good luck with your restoration.
