Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Started working on the rockers, floor, and kick panels. I tried to follow Rockln's Rockers 101 in the FAQ section (thank you) as best as I could. I found some unexpected rust and am going to need more parts (oh well). I also invested in a little Hobart Handler. I'll post more pics later. Having trouble with upload!!!

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
I also found rust inside the door skin and bottom of the doors. It does not appear to go through. I'll have to do some grinding. How did some of you deal with the inside doorskin rust? I read up on this rust dissolver from eastwood - anyone use it? Any advice will help. Thanks

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Mr. E
I've read you can use some POR 15 on that rust and move on....it'll never be an issue after that!!!

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
I invested in a used air compressor ($125 on CL) and welder and began doing some work on the truck. I replaced a section of the floorboard, kick panel, lower A beam, and inner rocker. I'll post more pics when I get the rockers on. Special thanks to Krue and LFD's for FAQ and rocker replacement 101. I'm just learning how to weld so try not to get hurt laughing.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
I made a few holes at first, but after a little practice and lowering the voltage, the holes occured less often. I picked up the Hobart welder a few months back, but just got arounf to using it. Thanks.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
I had some time this morning so i decided to test fit the door. It rubbed the corner of the rocker next to the a pillar when I open it. I cut off the tacks on the A-pillar and retacked it a little forward. The door still rubs. I'm hoping adjusting the door will take care of it. Overall the gaps look good to me. Thats all for today.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
thats great that you are going to learn and do it your self. I like what you have done by buying your own welder and go at it.
Keep it up... Al is watching...

spoken like a true man, that's not afraid of sleeping on the couch!!!
nice find on the air compressor though, I thought my $200 80 gallon was a decent buy... of course mine is 50 years old!

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
It's been a while since my last post. I've been checking out all your projects and watching the progress. I have no excuses for my time off the truck. I decided to jump back into it today and work on the passenger side cab corner.I cut the corner out, primered, started welding the new corner on. I'll have to finish another time.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Great to see someone making progress! My '72 hasn't been touched in nearly a year, unless you count buying rims and tires for it in the hope that someday it might deserve them.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Greetings fellow truck enthusiasts. I've been off for winter break and actually found time between the holiday parties, my three boys, and the honey-to-do list (more like a catlog), to work on the truck. "Too much Homework" has been slow-going, but its coming along. I'm currently working on replacing the left inner and outer rockers, kick panel, and floor section.
