"Comfort" is all relative....

I wouldn't say that the factory did a very good job setting up the seat rails or heights, and with a fixed-back seat you're more likely to be uncomfortable, than comfortable.

I'm only 5'9" and I'm amazed at how little adjustment there is in the factory seat slides. I set the seat in the rearmost position to get the pedals a normal distance away and to get a slight bend in my arms on the steering wheel. I can't imagine how someone 6' or taller gets in there without feeling like they're in a coach-class airline seat!

My plan is to modify the stock seatrails so that I can move the seat back all the way to the "step" in the rear floor... then play around with the rake of the seat and the height to give me decent sightlines out the windshield and head clearance around the rollcage. Once that's all established, I'll cut,weld and modify the stock frames until they put the seat where I want it. Then I'll modify the passenger seat mounts to match the driver's side visually.

Seat rails are cheap....I'd just do what makes you comfortable in there and worry less about what "factory" was. IMHO

as it sits right now, the seat could go back 2" before it hits the step up. but as it is, it feels "comfortable" to me. these seats are wide, compared to the factory buckets, and i think that is where the comfort comes in. i can move my arse side to side, for those long trips!

once i install my tilt, that should give me the last adjustment i need

btw, the interior upgrades look great. the two tones of grey go well with the exterior color

if you fool with existing seat brackets, you may have to use rivets for the mechanism to work, (clearance). dunno

I like the color combination too.....can't wait to get these seats installed then I'm almost done for awhile ;-)

I'm gonna play around with the factory brackets over the weekend and see what I can come up with.

I'm thinking of drilling out the existing brackets and fabbing new ones that will work with the jeep seat.

Was hoping to just use a good self tapping #10 or #12 screw to hold the brackets.....gotta see what kind of clearance there is between the bottom of the bracket and the top of the slide......and go from there.

Scoyote, where did you get the grill you put on the blazer? Im doing a similar project and like the looks of it.
Also, you said you were building a model airplane back in the thread somewhere, what kind of kit?

FW190d9 - that is the later version of the Focke Wolfe with the longer nose isn't it?

I'm building an old Royal kit and it's a FW190-A8.

I don't have any recent photos but here is one to give you an idea of what it looks like. I've pretty much got it ready for paint right now except for some details that need to be finished up like linkage horns...small stuff.

I can't remember where I got that grille but it was from one of the vendors here. I'll see if I can dig up some receipts and figure it out.

Nice A model you have there. I flew mine plus a few others up your way last september at Warbirds over the Rockies. Here is a pic of mine:

Very nice......like the paint scheme. I'm still looking at schemes. Kinda want to find one from JG-26 (yellow nosed bastards).

Mine is about 1/2 that size. Wingspan if just over 5 feet. Can't imagine finding the room to build one the size of yours!

I need to update that thread on RC Universe, I have made some progress. I'll try do get that done tomorrow.

I actually just now finished the driver side.

I had to grind off the brackets on the factory slides because they put the seat too high. Then I put a piece of 1/8" flat stock 3" wide across with a square tube under it for reinforcement. I just used 5/16" bolts and 5/16" hex head screws to hold the square tubing and through bolted the seat. It's plenty stout.

I didn't like the way the factory drivers side seat belt looked so I bought some new bolt down seat belts and cut the metal end off so I had a loop. Then I took the factory seat belts apart, put the new seat belt in there, wound it up and put a passenger side cover on it and bolted it in.

I think it looks better.

Seat is very comfortable. It's right at 12" from the floor to the top of the seat at the front and it slopes 2" with the factory slides.

It sticks up higher than original seats but I think it looks fine and it's not rubbing on the roll bar like the chevy seats were. Jeep seat is right at 4" narrower (21" across).

Now.....to try to figure out the passenger side.....it's gotta come down 3 inches too and I want to keep the fold forward feature. Either gotta cut and weld the legs off that bolt to the seat or try to put together something at the bottom of the seat......not sure what to do with it just yet.

But....I gotta drivers seat with seat belts !

just curious...why didn't you bring the kick panel covers all the way up to the bottom of the dash? love the new interior man i wish my blazer was that nice

I'm going to be asking them that same question.

Frankly I was out of town when it was done and my wife picked it up so I didn't see it until after it was back at home.

Figured I'd get the seats in and then drive it back down there and let them do it right this time.

Yep.....that is the way to go. I chatted with the upholstery shop and asked him why he stopped at the vent and he didn't have a good answer. I'll take it back to him after I get done fabbing the seat rails.
